About Vivere Murazzano

Every summer, the Vivere Murazzano photography contest invites amateur and professional photographers to capture the essence of the village of Murazzano in the Alta Langa region of Cuneo. Faces, gestures, local landmarks, and the quiet corners of the town are transformed into images submitted for free to the Obiettivo Comune association. The winning photographs are exhibited in Piazza Umberto I and awarded during a summer evening, surrounded by local products and the village atmosphere. An initiative created to preserve the memory and identity of this corner of Piedmont.

A photography contest in the heart of the Alta Langa

Vivere Murazzano is the summer photography contest that brings the town of Murazzano, in the Province of Cuneo, to life in the heart of the Piedmontese Alta Langa. Established in 2019 and organized by the Obiettivo Comune Murazzano association, the event invites photographers of all levels—amateurs and professionals alike—to capture the authentic life of the village through their lenses: the faces, gestures, ancient crafts, places, and silences that safeguard the identity of this town overlooking the hills.

How it works

Participation is completely free and open to everyone. Each entrant may submit up to three photographs, in black and white or color, by simply emailing them to the contest's dedicated address before the summer deadline. A jury composed of photography, image, and communication professionals selects the winning shots, evaluating expressive ability and adherence to the year's theme.

The open-air exhibition

The best photographs do not remain hidden in an archive: the top-ranked entries are exhibited outdoors in Piazza Umberto I, the main square of Murazzano, turning the town center into an open-air gallery. The award ceremony takes place during a summer evening, coinciding with the "Passeggiando di sera con il Murazzano" event, which also celebrates the famous local Murazzano PDO cheese.

A different theme every year

What makes Vivere Murazzano a vibrant event is the theme that changes with every edition: from "the silence that speaks" to the "stories, gestures, and presence" of the village, each year offers a new perspective to look at Murazzano with fresh eyes. It is an invitation to pause, observe, and tell the story of a Piedmont made of community, tradition, and landscapes.

Why participate

  • Free registration, open to amateurs and professionals.
  • Cash prize for the first place and local food and wine prizes up to the sixth place.
  • Open-air photography exhibition in the town center.
  • An opportunity to discover Murazzano and the Alta Langa, a land of vineyards, hazelnut groves, and Murazzano PDO cheese.

Vivere Murazzano — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Vivere Murazzano features the theme "The village that remains — Stories, gestures, and presence of Murazzano": an invitation to photograph not just simple landscapes, but the authentic life of the town, the faces, and the gestures that safeguard its identity. Free registration by July 27, 2026, with the award ceremony on Saturday, August 1, in Piazza Umberto I during "Passeggiando di sera con il Murazzano".

The theme for the 2026 edition is "The village that remains — Stories, gestures, and presence of Murazzano": the invitation is to recount the authentic life of the town through faces, gestures, and places that preserve its identity, going beyond the simple postcard landscape. Participation is free and open to everyone, amateurs and professionals.

Photographs must be sent before the summer deadline to the Obiettivo Comune Murazzano association, which organizes the contest in the town of Murazzano, in the Alta Langa (Province of Cuneo).
