The photography contest that captures the soul of the Alta Langa
Vivere Murazzano is the summer photography contest that brings the town of Murazzano, in the Province of Cuneo, to life in the heart of the Piedmontese Alta Langa. Established in 2019 and organized by the Obiettivo Comune Murazzano association, the event invites photographers of all levels—amateurs and professionals alike—to capture the authentic life of the village through their lenses: the faces, gestures, ancient crafts, places, and silences that safeguard the identity of this town overlooking the hills.
Participation is completely free and open to everyone. Each entrant may submit up to three photographs, in black and white or color, by simply emailing them to the contest's dedicated address before the summer deadline. A jury composed of photography, image, and communication professionals selects the winning shots, evaluating expressive ability and adherence to the year's theme.
The best photographs do not remain hidden in an archive: the top-ranked entries are exhibited outdoors in Piazza Umberto I, the main square of Murazzano, turning the town center into an open-air gallery. The award ceremony takes place during a summer evening, coinciding with the "Passeggiando di sera con il Murazzano" event, which also celebrates the famous local Murazzano PDO cheese.
What makes Vivere Murazzano a vibrant event is the theme that changes with every edition: from "the silence that speaks" to the "stories, gestures, and presence" of the village, each year offers a new perspective to look at Murazzano with fresh eyes. It is an invitation to pause, observe, and tell the story of a Piedmont made of community, tradition, and landscapes.
The theme for the 2026 edition is "The village that remains — Stories, gestures, and presence of Murazzano": the invitation is to recount the authentic life of the town through faces, gestures, and places that preserve its identity, going beyond the simple postcard landscape. Participation is free and open to everyone, amateurs and professionals.
Photographs must be sent before the summer deadline to the Obiettivo Comune Murazzano association, which organizes the contest in the town of Murazzano, in the Alta Langa (Province of Cuneo).
