Three days dedicated to Alpine Nebbiolo in the historic centre of Sondrio
ViVa, Vini Valtellina is the widespread event celebrating the oenological excellence of Valtellina: wines made from Nebbiolo, the grape variety that in this valley is called Chiavennasca and gives life to prestigious labels such as Sassella, Grumello, Inferno, Valgella, and Sforzato. For three days, the historic centre of Sondrio, the provincial capital, becomes the stage for a grand narrative of the territory through its wines.
The heart of the event is the tasting stands set up in the streets and squares of the centre, where visitors can sample the productions of Valtellina wineries and talk directly with the producers. Dedicated spaces welcome wine industry professionals, in a format that unites the public of enthusiasts with the professional audience.
ViVa is not just about tasting: the event takes participants to experience the landscape that gives rise to these wines. Scheduled are walks through the terraced vineyards, supported by historic dry-stone walls, e-bike tours, and winery visits, to discover up close the heroic viticulture that characterises the Rhaetian slopes of Valtellina.
The days are rounded off by the ViVa Nebbiolo evenings, which combine live music, flavours of Valtellina cuisine, and a convivial atmosphere in the heart of Sondrio. The event is promoted by the Valtellina Wine Protection Consortium, with the Valtellina Wine Sustainability Consortium and Provinea, and represents an ideal showcase for getting to know one of the most fascinating wine-growing areas in the Alps.
