The patron saint of Trabuchello, in the upper Brembana Valley
In the Municipality of Isola di Fondra, in the upper Brembana Valley (Province of Bergamo), the hamlet of Trabuchello houses the church of Saint Margaret of Antioch, the community's main place of worship. Elevated to parish status in 1610 after separation from the parish of San Lorenzo Martire, the church is now part of the united parish of Saints Margaret and Lawrence. The patronal festival of the hamlet is dedicated to the saint.
The festival of Saint Margaret is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of September. The heart of the day is religious: the holy mass in the church of Trabuchello, at 11:00 AM, followed in the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, by the procession with the statue of the patron saint through the village streets. It is the moment when the small mountain community comes together, often enriched by the return of those connected to these places.
Trabuchello and Isola di Fondra are part of those villages in the upper Brembana Valley that, despite having few inhabitants, keep their religious and identity-based celebrations alive. The festival of Saint Margaret is one of these, an expression of a devotion that spans centuries and continues to unite the community around its church.
The 2026 edition of the Saint Margaret festival in Trabuchello is scheduled for Sunday, September 13th, the second Sunday of the month. The day follows tradition: holy mass in the church of Trabuchello at 11:00 AM and procession with the statue of the patron saint at 3:00 PM.
Any updates to the program will be communicated by the parish in the weeks prior.
