About Villareia Flower Exhibition

The Villareia Flower and Craft Exhibition is a spring festival held every May at the Agricultural Institute of Villareia, a hamlet of Cepagatti in the province of Pescara. Two open-air days dedicated to floriculture, local crafts, farm animals, and the Abruzzo agricultural world, featuring exhibitions, blessings of animals and tractors, farriery demonstrations, horseback rides, and rich food stalls serving local specialties.

A spring festival in the agricultural heart of Abruzzo

The Villareia Flower and Craft Exhibition is one of the most cherished spring events in the municipality of Cepagatti, in the province of Pescara. Hosted in the green surroundings of the Villareia Agricultural Institute (Via Elsa Morante, 4), the event celebrates every year in May the deep bond between the Abruzzo region, its farming traditions, and the world of floriculture and local craftsmanship.

Flowers, animals, and the agricultural world

The exhibition is spread across large outdoor display areas dedicated to flowers, animals, tractors, and agricultural machinery, as well as local crafts. Great emphasis is placed on families and children: in the "Come and meet our animal friends" area, visitors can get up close with alpacas, rabbits, lambs, birds, buffaloes, and many other species, while pony and horse rides are also available.

  • Blessing of animals and tractors, a traditional moment on Sunday morning
  • Demonstrations of horse shoeing (farriery) and horse-drawn carriage displays
  • Sectors dedicated to floriculture and typical products
  • Stalls featuring local Abruzzo handicrafts

Conferences, music, and gastronomy

Alongside the exhibition, the event offers conferences dedicated to agriculture and the prospects of the agrotechnical sector, musical entertainment, folk dances, and dance evenings. Throughout the event, food stalls are open, serving specialties of Abruzzo cuisine, from arrosticini to porchetta, making the exhibition a perfect occasion for conviviality and discovering local flavors.

A tradition promoted by the territory

The Flower and Craft Exhibition is organized by the College of Agrotechnicians of Pescara together with the Federation of the Orders of Agronomists and Forestry Doctors of Abruzzo, with the patronage of the Municipality of Cepagatti and the collaboration of local associations. The event enhances the role of the Agricultural Institute and the local agricultural sector, offering visitors of all ages a weekend dedicated to nature, folk traditions, and the rural identity of Abruzzo.
