Explore, play, grow: the family festival in the nature of Sauris
In Sauris (Zahre), at the beginning of summer, a special village is born dedicated to children and families: Villaggio Selvaggio, whose subtitle says it all, 'explore, play, grow'. The idea is to offer children an immersion in nature and adults the opportunity to rediscover their inner child, in one of the most authentic villages of the Carnic Dolomites.
The festival takes place in the Treinkhe area and offers more than thirty types of activities: workshops, games, sensory experiences, and outdoor adventures. These range from orienteering challenges to building shelters in the woods, from discovering the world of bees to wool workshops with traditional weaving, from forest fitness to insect hotels, to face painting, storytelling, family yoga, and games on hay. The activities are led by educators, artists, yoga teachers, and pedagogy experts.
Villaggio Selvaggio is promoted by the Sauris-Zahre Business Network, with the contribution of the Ministry of Tourism and the support of PromoTurismoFVG and the Municipality of Sauris, in a village recently certified for sustainable tourism. The first edition, in 2025, attracted around 300 participants.
Children's laughter, the scent of the forest, and the freedom to play outdoors: Villaggio Selvaggio is the ideal festival for families seeking an educational, genuine, and immersive experience in the nature of the Friulian Dolomites.
Villaggio Selvaggio 2026, in its second edition, returns to Sauris in the Treinkhe area from May 31 to June 2. Three days with over thirty types of activities for children and families, led by educators, artists, and experts, focused on play, discovery, and contact with nature.
The complete program with schedules and booking methods for activities will be published on the official Sauris channels in the weeks prior. The format includes over thirty activities: orienteering challenges, building shelters in the woods, discovering the world of bees, wool workshops and weaving, forest fitness, insect hotels, face painting, storytelling, family yoga, and games on hay, with daily or three-day passes.
How to get there: The Treinkhe area is located in Sauris, reachable by car via the Sauris lake tunnel from Carnia.
Tickets: Daily or three-day passes are available online; special meals and aperitifs require separate booking.
Accommodation: Nine participating facilities offer stays with regional tourist bonuses; booking is recommended.
