About A Mountain of Books

Una Montagna di Libri is the international literary festival of Cortina d'Ampezzo, founded in 2009. With over 40 summer events and a winter session, it brings writers, intellectuals, and protagonists of Italian and international culture to the Dolomites. The author meetings take place in the most prestigious halls of the Ampezzo basin, from the Alexander Girardi Hall to the Post Office Palace, attracting around 20,000 attendees each year.

Literature at high altitude

Una Montagna di Libri is the literary festival that has been accompanying the seasons of Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the province of Belluno, for over fifteen years. Founded in 2009 and directed by Francesco Chiamulera, the series of author meetings has become a benchmark for Italian culture, capable of bringing writers, journalists, scientists, and personalities from the world of sport and entertainment to the Dolomites.

Two seasons, one passion for books

The festival is divided into a rich summer edition (from July to September) and a winter session, with dozens of meetings hosted in the most evocative halls of the Ampezzo basin: the Alexander Girardi Hall, the Post Office Palace, the Grand Hotel Savoia, and the Zardini Museum. Every year, the event attracts around 20,000 attendees.

Culture, sport, and the identity of the Dolomites

Supported by the Municipality of Cortina and the Veneto Region, Una Montagna di Libri intertwines literature, current affairs, and reflection on the world of the mountains. In the years of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the festival has dedicated ample space to the theme of sport and Olympic values, confirming itself as one of the most vibrant cultural voices in the Alps.

A Mountain of Books — edition 2026

The 34th edition of Una Montagna di Libri offers over 40 events in the summer of 2026 (from July to September) and a winter session between February and March, coinciding with the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics. The festival hosts writers and protagonists of Italian and international culture in the most prestigious halls of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The 34th edition of Una Montagna di Libri unfolds throughout 2026 with two major events: a winter session (February-March), linked to the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics, and the rich summer edition with over 40 events from July to September.
