Flavours that tell, art that enchants: the multisensory festival of Sauris
In Sauris (Zahre), in the Carnic Dolomites, there is a festival that challenges the boundaries between cuisine, music, and art: it is called Gebele, and its motto is 'flavours that tell, art that enchants'. The idea is both simple and radical: every dish is a story to be savoured, and every melody amplifies its meaning, in an experience that engages all the senses.
The programme includes a sensory market with local producers, educational sessions on sound vibrations and their effect on taste, aperitifs with DJ sets, and real experiments in pairing flavours and perceptions. The most surprising moment is 'The Dinner You Can Hear', an immersive gastronomic experience where diners wear headphones that accompany and transform the tasting. There are also workshops dedicated to communication with plants and other thematic meetings.
In a village already famous for its smoked ham and Zahre beer, Gebele adds a level of research and creativity that blends tradition and contemporaneity. The event is organised by the Sauris-Zahre Business Network with the support of the Municipality of Sauris.
Amidst the wooden houses of Sauris, the autumn air, and the aroma of local dishes, Gebele offers an unconventional experience, where food becomes storytelling and music becomes an ingredient. An event for those seeking emotions and discoveries beyond simple tasting.
Gebele 2026 returns to Sauris di Sotto on October 3 and 4 with its multisensory journey through food, sound, and art. The festival offers a market of local producers, sessions on the effect of sound vibrations on taste, aperitifs with DJ sets, and the renowned 'The Dinner You Can Hear'.
The full program with times and booking for individual experiences will be published on the official channels of the Sauris-Zahre Business Network. The format includes: a sensory market with local producers, educational sessions on sound vibrations and their effect on taste, aperitifs with DJ sets, workshops on communication with plants, and experiments pairing flavours and perceptions, as well as 'The Dinner You Can Hear' (immersive tasting with headphones, by reservation).
How to get there: Sauris di Sotto can be reached by car via the Sauris lake tunnel from Carnia.
Admission: free access to the festival area; some experiences, such as 'The Dinner You Can Hear', are ticketed and require booking.
