About Mushroom Festival

The Mushroom and Environment Festival of Budoia, in the province of Pordenone, is one of the longest-running and most recognized mycological events in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Over two weekends in September, it features an exhibition of around 400 species of mushrooms, the Regional Mycological Exhibition, themed gastronomy, organic products, environmental conferences, and the Mushroom Walk.

September in Budoia, between woods and mushrooms

At the foot of the Pordenone Prealps, Budoia is a village with an ancient and deep connection to its woods. Every September, this bond becomes a celebration with the Mushroom and Environment Festival, an event that for over half a century has combined mycological passion, environmental culture, and seasonal gastronomy, attracting enthusiasts and curious visitors from all over the region.

Four hundred species on display

The scientific heart of the festival is the exhibition of around 400 species of mushrooms, set up as part of the Regional Mycological Exhibition. Expert mycologists are available to the public to explain the characteristics, habitats, and secrets of the different species, distinguishing edible from poisonous ones: a precious opportunity for education and dissemination, as well as for wonder at the biodiversity of the forest. Accompanying the mycological exhibition is also a photographic exhibition dedicated to the forms of nature.

An ecological event for over thirty years

The word "Environment" in the title is not incidental: for more than thirty years, the event has been recognized as an eco-event, with waste prevention programs and sustainability-conscious practices. The calendar includes environmental-themed conferences held by experts, testifying to the Pro Loco Budoia's commitment to combining popular celebration with ecological awareness.

Gastronomy, organic products, and the Mushroom Walk

There is no shortage of conviviality: the restaurant and kiosk offer themed menus with mushrooms as the star, while a space is dedicated to the region's organic products. The Mushroom Walk, a hike through the woods and trails of Budoia, completes the offering for those who want to experience the festival outdoors. In March 2026, the event received the recognition of "Sagra di Qualitร " (Quality Festival) from UNPLI, crowning a journey of growth and organizational care.

Mushroom Festival โ€” edition 2026

The 57th Mushroom and Environment Festival of Budoia is scheduled for September 2026, likely over two weekends as is tradition. Exhibition of around 400 species of mushrooms, Regional Mycological Exhibition, themed gastronomy, organic products, environmental conferences, and Mushroom Walk. The event was recognized as a "Quality Festival" by UNPLI in 2026.

The 57th edition of the Mushroom and Environment Festival is expected in Budoia (PN) in September 2026. The event, organized by Pro Loco Budoia, confirms its dual nature: scientific and educational with the grand mycological exhibition, and convivial and popular with themed gastronomy. In March 2026, it received the "Sagra di Qualitร " (Quality Festival) mark from UNPLI, an award presented in the Senate along with that for Gemona.
