The football tournament that lights up the summer in Sarnonico, in the Upper Val di Non
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of summer, the Villages Football Tournament turns the sports center of Sarnonico, in the province of Trento, into the stage for a deeply felt local tradition. It is an event that goes beyond sport: the competing teams represent the villages and hamlets of the Upper Val di Non, and every match becomes an opportunity to strengthen community bonds in a valley where local pride is lived with charm and spirit.
The tournament is promoted by the Pro Loco Sarnonico e Seio, the volunteer association that manages the tourist office and local entertainment. In recent years, the Pro Loco has been revitalized by a group of young volunteers: a board of nine people with a very low average age, who have brought enthusiasm and new energy to the organization of traditional village events. The Villages Football Tournament is one of the historic events this new generation has decided to relaunch, alongside the autumn chestnut festival and the concert at the San Lorenzo Festival.
The matches are played at the Sarnonico sports center, a well-equipped facility featuring a 70x40 meter synthetic grass football pitch, ideal for five-a-side football, as well as spaces for volleyball, basketball, bocce, and tennis. Sarnonico sits at about 980 meters above sea level on a sunny plateau in the Upper Anaunia, near the Mendola Pass, and includes the hamlet of Seio, overlooking the Dolomiti Golf Club. It is one of the most appreciated summer destinations in the Val di Non, the famous "valley of apples," with views of the Brenta Dolomites.
More than just a competition, the Villages Football Tournament is a shared celebration. Families, fans, and curious onlookers gather around the pitch in a relaxed atmosphere filled with friendly cheering, chatting, and conviviality. It is the perfect opportunity to experience the authenticity of a small mountain village in Trentino, where traditions are passed down and community life remains the beating heart of the area.
Immersed in a landscape of meadows, forests, and apple orchards, Sarnonico is a Trentino village that combines sport, nature, and tourism. The tournament is part of a summer calendar full of events designed for both residents and the many holidaymakers who choose the Upper Anaunia for their vacations. For those looking to discover the most genuine side of the Trentino mountains, the Villages Football Tournament is a small but great event not to be missed.
