About Rumo Nativity Scenes

Every year, between December 8th and Epiphany, the hamlets of Lanza and Mocenigo in Rumo, Val di Non, transform into a charming nativity scene trail. Local residents passionately and authentically set up their creations in the most characteristic corners of the village, along the streets and squares. The trail can be visited freely, by day or at sunset, when the lights of the nativity scenes create a truly magical atmosphere.

A nativity scene trail in the heart of Val di Non

The Rumo Nativity Scene Trail is one of the most cherished Christmas traditions in the upper Val di Non, in the municipality of Rumo (Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige). Every year, during the Advent and holiday season, the hamlets of Lanza and Mocenigo come alive with dozens of nativity scenes set up by residents in public spaces and the most picturesque corners of the village.

Through the streets and squares of the hamlets

The trail winds through the streets and squares of the two hamlets, nestled on the sunny slopes of the upper valley. Strolling freely among the stone and wood houses, visitors can admire an original exhibition of nativity scenes crafted with passion and authenticity: from traditional compositions with moss and figurines to more creative and unique displays. It is a tradition passed down from generation to generation, involving both young and old, united by the desire to inspire wonder and serenity in the hearts of those who visit the village.

A magical atmosphere at sunset

The trail is open to visitors at any time, by day or in the evening, when the lights of the nativity scenes make the atmosphere particularly evocative. Admission is free, and the visit pairs perfectly with a walk to discover Rumo, its frescoed churches, and the trails of the upper Val di Non.

Christmas in Val di Non

The Rumo Nativity Scene Trail is part of the broader Trentino nativity scene tradition, with numerous villages in Val di Non setting up trails and exhibitions during the Christmas period. In Rumo, the event typically runs from December 8th to Epiphany (January 6th), covering the entire Christmas holiday season.
