The Villa Romagnoli Carnival, the festive heart of Mozzagrogna

In the village of Villa Romagnoli, part of the municipality of Mozzagrogna in the province of Chieti, the Carnival has long been one of the most anticipated events in the Abruzzo winter calendar. Organized by the Pro Loco Romagnoli APS, the event transforms the streets of this small town into a path of color, music, and joy, involving families, associations, and groups from across the Sangro and Frentano valleys.

The allegorical float parade

The highlight of the festival is the allegorical float parade, meticulously crafted by numerous local groups and associations over the preceding months. Inspired by pop culture, cartoons, and current events, the floats wind through the town streets accompanied by costumed participants, confetti, and music. The parade features stilt walkers, performers, and entertainers, making it a spectacular show for both children and adults.

Entertainment, gastronomy, and tradition

The Villa Romagnoli Carnival is designed primarily for children: games, entertainment shows, and free snacks like cotton candy, popcorn, and crepes fill the afternoon. There is no shortage of food stalls serving traditional Abruzzo specialties, from arrosticini and sausages to local pastries. The day traditionally ends with the grand Carnival fireworks in the main square.
