Vigolana THE Race

A vertical challenge on the Vigolana Plateau

Vigolana THE Race is a skyrunning competition held every summer in Vigolo Vattaro, within the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Born as a natural evolution of the area's mountain running tradition, the event has established itself as one of the toughest and most spectacular fixtures in the Trentino skyrunning scene, and is part of the La Sportiva circuit. The race attracts athletes from across the Alps, drawn by a course that is as technical as it is breathtaking.

The course: 20 km and 1,700 meters of elevation gain

The classic route unfolds along the northern slope and the ridges of the Vigolana massif, starting and finishing at the event area in the Caolorine locality of Vigolo Vattaro, at an altitude of 675 meters. From the fertile valley meadows, the path climbs toward Malga Dos del Bue (1,050 m), Acqua della Mastaze, Gratarola, and Polsa, before reaching the Forcella and the race's highest point, the Becco di Filadonna at 2,150 meters. From there, the race continues at altitude along Cima Vigolana, Becco della Ceriola, and Sass de l'Aquila, before the descent leads athletes back to Vigolo Vattaro. In total, it covers 20 kilometers with 1,700 meters of positive elevation gain, winding through lush alpine pastures, dark forests, rugged scree, and enchanting airy ridges.

At the finish line, in addition to the awards ceremony, the event offers social gatherings with food service and music, enlivening the event area until the evening.
