The major gardening and nursery market exhibition on the Walls of Lucca
Every year, as spring arrives, the historic Walls of Lucca come alive for Verdemura, one of Italy's most significant market exhibitions dedicated to high-quality gardening, specialized nursery stock, and the art of outdoor living. The event takes place in the unique setting of the Renaissance bastions, spanning the Baluardo San Regolo and Baluardo la Libertà, and also incorporating the charming Botanical Garden of Lucca. It is widely considered the season's premier green fair in Italy, eagerly awaited by enthusiasts and professionals from across the country.
Along the walkways of the Walls, over 160 national and international exhibitors offer a refined selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs, ornamental trees, seeds, bulbs, soil, fertilizers, and gardening tools. Alongside specialized nurserymen, visitors will find high-quality crafts and local gastronomy, creating a journey that blends the pleasure of shopping with the joy of discovery. The scenic backdrop of the Municipality of Lucca, one of the most beautiful walled cities in Tuscany, makes the visit a truly unique experience.
Verdemura is more than just a market; it is a major cultural event dedicated to the world of plants. The program includes workshops for adults, Young Gardening activities designed for children, meetings with industry experts, book presentations, and thematic exhibitions set up along the bastions. Each edition highlights a specific plant or flower, serving as the centerpiece for displays, conferences, and botanical inspiration.
Organized by Lucca Crea srl in collaboration with the Municipality of Lucca, in the Province of Lucca, Verdemura is the perfect opportunity to combine a passion for gardening with the discovery of one of Tuscany's most beloved art cities. Strolling among flowers and plants on the Walls, with views over the city's rooftops and bell towers, is an experience that makes the trip worthwhile on its own.
The 17th edition of Verdemura chose the rose as its featured flower, celebrated for its elegance and generous, prolonged blooms, with varieties such as «Coragold», «Abracadabra», and «Docteur Poleur». Along the bastions of the Walls of Lucca, about 160 national and international exhibitors offered plants, flowers, tools, crafts, and typical gastronomy. Among the specialized nurserymen were names like Floricoltura Lari, Le Rose di Pinocchio, and Rosso Tiziano. A new ticketing feature was the «open ticket» with discounted presale on TicketOne.
The 2026 edition celebrated the rose in all its forms, with displays, exhibitions, and specialized nurserymen along the bastions.
Lucca is easily accessible by train (Lucca station, on the Florence–Viareggio line) and by car via the A11 Firenze–Mare motorway, taking the Lucca exit. The historic Walls are just a short walk from the city center.
The event is open all three days from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
