The peach and Valdera cuisine festival in the village of Usigliano di Lari
The Usigliano Festival, known to all as the Peach Festival, is one of the most cherished summer events in the Pisan hills. It takes place in Usigliano di Lari, a small hamlet in the municipality of Casciana Terme Lari, in the province of Pisa, nestled in the greenery of the Valdera area between Lari and Casciana Alta. For two weekends in July, the village fills with people, scents, and music, in what has always been the community's great celebration.
The festival's roots date back to 1971, when it was born spontaneously as an expression of a farming community and a celebration of the locals' love for their village. The event continued until 1983, only to disappear for over thirty years. In 2014, it was brought back to life thanks to the Le Fontoni Cultural Association, which inherited the legacy of the old festival and combined it with the freshness and ideas of many local youths. Since then, the festival has grown edition after edition, becoming a staple of the Valdera summer.
The absolute star is the peach, a fruit typical of the countryside around Usigliano. A market dedicated to peaches and local products revolves around this produce, while the kitchen serves traditional specialties: grilled meats, fried dishes, pasta, and desserts prepared with seasonal fruit. The festival is a genuine opportunity to discover Valdera's gastronomy in a convivial and familiar village atmosphere.
Part of the rich summer calendar of the municipality of Casciana Terme Lari, the Usigliano Festival is much more than just a food event: it is a way to experience the identity of a rural Tuscan village, where farming tradition is still alive and celebrated together.
For 2026, the Peach Festival in Usigliano di Lari is confirmed for two weekends in July: from July 9 to 12 and from July 16 to 19. The dates are official and included in the summer calendar of the municipality of Casciana Terme Lari.
As per tradition, the festival revolves around the peaches of the local countryside and the gastronomy of the Valdera region, with indoor stands, a market of local products, live music, and dancing. The detailed program with artists and evening events is usually published by the Le Fontoni Association in the weeks leading up to the festival.
The dates for the 25th Usigliano Festival 2026 are confirmed: July 9-12 and July 16-19. The detailed program (musical groups, shows and dance evenings, entertainment, and market) is traditionally announced by the Le Fontoni Association in the weeks preceding the event.
