The only Italian granfondo held entirely within a metropolitan area, following the routes of the Milan-Turin classic.
The Turin International Granfondo is a classic event in the amateur cycling calendar of Northwest Italy. Organized by GS Alpi, every spring it draws hundreds of cycling enthusiasts to the Piedmontese capital for a race with a unique characteristic in Italy: it takes place entirely within a metropolitan area—the Metropolitan City of Turin—without ever truly leaving the city limits.
The 2026 course measures 113 km with 1,900 meters of elevation gain (115.7 km total to the finish line) and is described by organizers as both technical and captivating, crossing some of the most scenic corners of the Turin territory. Much of the race follows the same roads as the Milan-Turin, the oldest professional classic in the world: riding here means retracing the paths where legends like Coppi, Bartali, and Merckx wrote cycling history. The climb toward the Turin Hills and the Panoramica Pino Torinese-Superga represents the decisive moment of the race.
The race headquarters is the historic "Fausto Coppi" Motovelodrome on Corso Casale, the starting point for the event. The day concludes with a spectacular time trial held inside the Motovelodrome, reserved for the top 20 men and top 10 women in the overall standings, crowning the King and Queen of the Motovelodrome. It is an original format that turns the finale into a true spectacle for the public.
Since 2025, the event has been dedicated to Luca Ferrero, a veterinarian and passionate cyclist who passed away in a road accident while training; he was a beloved figure in the community and a local volunteer. Through the charity bib system, funds are raised for the Piccola Casa della Divina Provvidenza – Cottolengo in Turin, an institution where Ferrero volunteered. The eve of the race also includes a tribute to the Grande Torino at the Basilica of Superga, with a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument dedicated to the "Invincibili".
More than just a race, the Turin Granfondo is a celebration of amateur cycling that combines competition, historical memory, and a deep connection to the land. For enthusiasts and cycle tourists, it is an opportunity to discover the hills of Turin and the Asti region while riding safely on roads rich in history, in the heart of Piedmont.
The 2026 edition, the eleventh in the history of the event, confirmed the winning formula of GS Alpi. The start was given on Sunday, April 19, at 8:30 AM from Corso Casale, next to the "Fausto Coppi" Motovelodrome, while the finish line was set on the Strada dei Colli (Panoramica Pino Torinese-Superga) after 115.7 km in total. The day concluded with the spectacular time trial inside the Motovelodrome reserved for the top 20 men and 10 women in the overall standings. Once again this year, the event combined sport and solidarity in favor of the Cottolengo.
The meeting point is the "Fausto Coppi" Motovelodrome on Corso Casale, Turin (ZIP 10131), easily accessible by car from the ring road and the city center. Turin is served by the motorway network (A4, A6, A21, A32) and the Porta Nuova and Porta Susa railway stations, as well as Turin-Caselle Airport.
Registration is available online via the official website. There are three types of bibs: standard, the charity bib supporting the Cottolengo, and the Luca Ferrero Memorial bib. Bib collection takes place on the Saturday before the race at the Motovelodrome.
As this is a granfondo with nearly 2,000 meters of elevation gain, adequate preparation is recommended. A pasta party and awards ceremony are held at the end. Information: [email protected].
