The dawn run-walk in the Parco Dalla Chiesa of Collegno
The 5.60 of San Lorenzo is one of the most cherished events of the summer sports calendar in Collegno, in the province of Turin, Piedmont. It is a non-competitive recreational event open to everyone, from seasoned runners to casual walkers, covering a route of approximately 7 km through Parco Generale Dalla Chiesa, Parco della Dora, and the town's historic center.
The name ยซ5.60ยป pays homage to the year 1560, when the historic San Lorenzo patronal fair was established. The race starts at dawn, at 6:00 AM, when the park is still enveloped in the cool morning air and the golden light of the rising sun. Running or walking at this hour turns a simple sporting activity into an almost ritualistic experience, blending physical well-being, a connection with nature, and a sense of community pride.
The event is organized by ASD ParchiInCammino โ Area Ovest, an amateur sports association specializing in fitwalking, nordic walking, and hiking, in collaboration with the San Lorenzo Cultural Association and under the patronage of the City of Collegno, the Piedmont Region, and Turin Metropolitan City. The event is an integral part of the San Lorenzo Patronal Festival, the city's patron saint celebration, which brings a rich calendar of historical re-enactments, tastings, concerts, and activities for all ages to Collegno every July.
One of the core values of the 5.60 is solidarity: all proceeds from registration fees are donated to concrete community projects. For the 2025 edition, thanks to the contributions of over 200 participants, an automated external defibrillator was purchased and donated to the city, now installed at the Parco Dalla Chiesa kiosk.
The non-competitive format makes the 5.60 suitable for everyone: some tackle the course at a run, others choose a fitwalking pace, and some simply stroll while enjoying the park at dawn. It is an event designed for families, athletes, and all residents of Collegno who want to start their day with movement and support a good cause.
A simple and authentic event that, edition after edition, has become a symbol of the bond between sport, community, and the local area in the heart of the Turin metropolitan belt.
The 4th edition of the San Lorenzo 5.60 will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, in Collegno (Turin). This non-competitive fun run/walk covers approximately 7 km, winding through Parco Generale Dalla Chiesa, Parco della Dora, and the historic center of Collegno, with a 6:00 AM start at Villa Rosa (Parco Dalla Chiesa).
The event is organized by ASD ParchiInCammino โ Area Ovest in collaboration with the San Lorenzo Cultural Association, under the patronage of the City of Collegno, the Piedmont Region, and the Metropolitan City of Turin.
