About Cervara Truffle Festival

Every third weekend of September, the village of Cervara di Roma, nestled in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Natural Park, blends culture and gastronomy during the Artists' Feast and the Truffle Festival. Amidst the car-free alleys of the village—famous for its rock sculptures, murals, and the historic Artists' Staircase—visitors can enjoy tastings of the prized Uncinato Truffle, art exhibitions, guided tours of the Mountain Museum, and live folk music. An event that captures the artistic and mountain soul of this corner of the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.

A stone village between art and truffles

Perched at over 1,000 meters, Cervara di Roma is one of the most evocative villages in the Aniene Valley, located in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Natural Park, in the Province of Rome. Known as the "village of artists" for having inspired painters and sculptors during the Grand Tour, the historic center is an open-air museum filled with rock-carved sculptures, murals, poetry, and mosaics. Every third weekend of September, this setting hosts the Artists' Feast and the Truffle Festival, two intertwined events that combine the village's cultural vocation with the flavors of the Lazio mountains.

The Truffle Festival

The gastronomic heart of the event is the Truffle Festival, dedicated to the Uncinato Truffle of Cervara di Roma, recognized as a Traditional Agri-food Product (PAT) of Lazio. Along the village alleys, stalls offer a true gastronomic walk, featuring traditional recipes and gourmet dishes based on this prized tuber. Tastings are accompanied by folk music, with the rhythms of pizzica, saltarello, and tarantella enlivening the squares until evening.

The Artists' Feast

The Artists' Feast celebrates the memory of the painters who stayed in Cervara every year, featuring photo exhibitions, historical collections, book presentations, and theatrical performances. The program includes guided tours of the Mountain Museum and civic museums, scenic walks along the famous Artists' Staircase and the Staircase of Peace, as well as moments dedicated to folk traditions and "roots tourism."

Nature, sky, and community

The setting of the Simbruini Mountains also makes the festival an opportunity to discover the surrounding nature: hiking, visits to the deer wildlife area, and, in recent editions, astronomical observations with telescopes led by sky enthusiasts. The intimate atmosphere of the car-free village allows visitors to experience the event on foot, amidst panoramic views of the valley and the warm hospitality of the local community.
