Tripe Festival

A late-summer festival in the heart of the Tesino

The Tripe Festival is a recurring gastronomic event held every September at the Cinte Tesino sports grounds, a small village of just over five hundred inhabitants nestled on the Tesino Plateau in Valsugana, in the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The event is organized by the Cinte Tesino Pro Loco with the support of APT Valsugana and represents one of the most anticipated social gatherings at the end of the summer on the plateau.

Tripe, a traditional mountain dish

The absolute star of the festival is tripe, a hearty, humble dish of alpine peasant cuisine, prepared according to the traditional recipe and cooked in large pots to satisfy the many people who come to Cinte Tesino for the occasion. The tripe is served steaming hot, often accompanied by polenta and a glass of wine, in a genuine village festival atmosphere. Alongside the signature dish, the festival offers other gastronomic specialties and typical products from the Tesino territory.

Conviviality and community

More than just a culinary event, the Tripe Festival is a meeting point for the Cinte Tesino community and tourists visiting the plateau during the summer months. The food stalls, set up in the sports facility area, provide covered seating, while the atmosphere remains that of a straightforward, informal Trentino village feast, where food is a pretext for coming together.

Cinte Tesino and the Tesino Plateau

Cinte Tesino rises at the foot of Monte Mezza, on the Tesino Plateau, a green terrace in the eastern part of Trentino, on the edge of the Valsugana and at the foot of the Lagorai chain, dominated by Cima d'Asta. Together with Castello Tesino and Pieve Tesino, it forms the characteristic group of Tesino villages, a land of ancient pastoral and forestry traditions, once crossed by the Roman Via Claudia Augusta Altinate. Attending the Tripe Festival therefore also means discovering an authentic corner of the Trentino mountains, far from the most crowded destinations.
