Three days dedicated to the forest and porcini mushrooms in the Vanoi Valley
The Festa delle Brise e del Bosco is one of the most cherished events in the Vanoi Valley, a secluded, forest-rich valley in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. It takes place in Caoria, a hamlet of the municipality of Canal San Bovo (Province of Trento), and transforms the entire village for a weekend into a grand tribute to the forest and its bounty. The name comes from the local dialect term "brisa", used in the valley to refer to the porcini mushroom (Boletus edulis), the true star of the festival.
At the heart of the event is the deep connection between the Vanoi community and its woods. Throughout the festival, guided excursions with mycological experts and forest rangers are organized, designed to help participants learn to identify edible mushrooms, particularly the prized porcini. There is also the traditional mycological exhibition, set up in the village, where visitors can observe the many species gathered in the surrounding area up close.
Along the streets of Caoria, you will find markets with stalls offering local specialties, artisanal crafts, and forest products. The food stalls serve menus based on mushrooms and traditional Trentino dishes, while local restaurants in the Vanoi Valley offer themed menus dedicated to the event. The festival is also an opportunity to rediscover mountain trades and traditions through demonstrations, workshops, and convivial moments that involve the entire valley.
The Festa delle Brise e del Bosco combines nature, culture, and gastronomy in a stunning landscape, amidst the forests and trails of the Vanoi. Excursions, entertainment for children, exhibitions, and culinary offerings make this Caoria festival an ideal destination for those seeking the authentic atmosphere of the Trentino mountains at the end of summer.
The 2026 Festa delle Brise e del Bosco is scheduled from Friday, September 18th to Sunday, September 20th, 2026 in Caoria, a hamlet of Canal San Bovo, in the Vanoi Valley (Trentino). At the moment, the organizers have confirmed the dates but not yet the detailed daily program, which will be published soon on the official ApT website.
As per tradition, the edition will offer two outings with experts to learn how to identify Boletus edulis, markets of local and artisanal products, food stalls, and themed proposals from Vanoi restaurants dedicated to mushrooms and forest products.
