Cinema, words, and music in the heart of Western Sicily
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Trapani Film Festival is a summer cinematic event held in Trapani, the capital of the province of the same name in Western Sicily. Established in 2023, the festival has quickly become one of the most anticipated highlights of the Trapani summer, attracting prominent national directors, actors, and musicians to a free, open-to-all setting.
The festival's signature is its evening format, which weaves together three languages: cinema, featuring premieres, feature films, and a competitive section of short films selected from hundreds of entries worldwide; words, through talks, interviews, and guest encounters; and music, with live concerts and soundtracks performed on stage. Each evening begins in the late afternoon and continues late into the night, turning the festival into a collective open-air ritual.
The heart of the festival is Villa Margherita, the historic public garden overlooking Viale Regina Margherita, just a short walk from Trapani's historic center. This green space, with its natural arena, hosts the stage, the screen, and the audience in an evocative atmosphere surrounded by palm trees and Liberty-style architecture.
The event is produced by 3 Points Productions, with artistic direction involving founders Francesco Torre and Michael C. Allen alongside professionals from the Italian film industry. The festival has distinguished itself by hosting high-profile guests and engaging with the local area, celebrating Sicily's cultural and gastronomic identity alongside cinema.
Overlooking the sea between the salt pans and the Egadi Islands, Trapani provides the festival with a unique backdrop of Mediterranean sunsets, Baroque streets, and maritime traditions. The event is a perfect opportunity to discover the city in summer, combining a passion for the big screen with the hospitality and flavors of the Trapani province.
The Trapani Film Festival 2026 is expected in Trapani during the usual summer period. Official dates and the program have not yet been released by the organization: we recommend checking the official website and social media channels for updates on dates, guests, and the short film selection.
Trapani can be reached by car via the A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway. Trapani-Birgi Airport (Vincenzo Florio) is approximately 15 km from the city center. Villa Margherita is located on Viale Regina Margherita, a short distance from the train station and the historic center.
The festival evenings are generally free to attend until capacity is reached. For some events, reservations may be made through the ticketing platforms indicated by the organizers.
