The international Arabian horse morphology competition in Buseto Palizzolo
The Trapani Arabian Horse Cup is one of Italy's leading events for the Arabian horse, a breed that embodies elegance, harmonious form, and noble bearing. The event takes place in Buseto Palizzolo, a town in the province of Trapani, Sicily, at the Pietra dei Fiori Equestrian Center—a facility equipped with spacious competition arenas, a restaurant, and over 350 stables, located just moments from the Segesta Archaeological Park.
The competition is sanctioned by the European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations (ECAHO) and the Italian National Arabian Horse Association (ANICA), two bodies that ensure the technical quality and integrity of the events. The jury is composed of internationally renowned experts from various countries, including Oman, France, Belgium, the United States, Italy, and Germany, confirming the European stature the event has built over the years.
The heart of the event lies in the morphology classes, where horses are evaluated and divided by sex and birth year: colts, fillies, mares, and stallions parade before judges who reward their breed conformity, harmony, and movement. The program culminates in the ECAHO Final Championships, which award titles in the Yearling, Junior, and Senior categories.
Hosting an event of this caliber is a significant opportunity for Buseto Palizzolo and the entire province of Trapani to promote the region. Its proximity to the Segesta Archaeological Park, with its famous Doric temple and Greek theater, allows visitors to combine their passion for the equestrian world with the discovery of the landscape and heritage of Western Sicily.
The Trapani Arabian Horse Cup is organized by the Nuovo Gruppo Equestre Monte Erice, chaired by Antonio Culcasi. Admission is free and open to the public, making this spectacle of beauty, sport, and equestrian tradition accessible to families, enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, June 26, with the arrival of the horses and preliminary checks. Saturday, June 27, starting at 5:00 PM, the competitions begin with classes dedicated to colts, fillies, mares, and stallions, categorized by birth year. Sunday, June 28, from 9:30 AM, features classes for horses born in 2025 and the ECAHO Final Championships, with titles awarded in the Yearling, Junior, and Senior categories.
For 2026, the collaboration with Fitetrec-Ante continues, bringing the first edition of the Segesta Horse Cup, featuring Segesta Trekking, Master Gymkhana, Western Gymkhana, Traditional Working Equitation, and Country Derby.
