Two routes between coast and mountains
The event offers two routes of varying length and difficulty, designed to welcome cyclists of all levels:
- Long route of approximately 111 km, reserved for the most trained riders, featuring significant elevation gain, challenging climbs, and technical descents that require good bike handling skills.
- Short route of approximately 75 km, more accessible but equally spectacular, ideal for those seeking a cycling experience without sacrificing the beauty of the views.
Both tracks pass through fifteen municipalities in the province of Chieti, winding along scenic roads between the coast and the Frentano hinterland up to the foothills of the Maiella. Along the route, there are two timed sections in the areas of Casoli and Fara San Martino, which add a touch of challenge without compromising the non-competitive spirit of the event.
Refreshments and flavors of Abruzzo
The Trabocchi-Maiella is not just about cycling and landscapes: it is also an opportunity to discover the flavors of the territory. Along the track and at the finish line, cyclists will find refreshment stops with traditional Abruzzese products, from pasta to the essential arrosticini, accompanied by beer and the grand final pasta party on the Fossacesia seafront. The start and finish area transforms into a true village with music, entertainment, and activities for families.
An event for the whole family
A rich side program revolves around the bike ride, designed to involve even those not in the saddle: a sports village, children's entertainment, wellness activities, and festive moments enliven the day in Fossacesia Marina. The organization, managed by ASD Moreno Di Biase led by former professional cyclist Moreno Di Biase, has successfully grown the event edition after edition, maintaining its genuine spirit and strong identity linked to Abruzzo, its coast, and its mountains.

2026 Edition: the spring cycling festival
The fourth edition of the Trabocchi-Maiella Cycling Granfondo was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, moving to spring for the first time. The start was given at 8:30 AM from the Fossacesia Marina seafront, in front of Supporter Beach, with about 500 cyclists at the start coming from all over Abruzzo and various Italian regions.
Participants tackled the two routes of approximately 75 and 111 kilometers, crossing fifteen municipalities in the province of Chieti between the coast and the Maiella hinterland, with the timed sections of Casoli and Fara San Martino. The day, blessed by good weather, concluded with the pasta party on the seafront and the awards ceremony for the largest teams and the winners of the timed sections.

8:30 AM: Start from Fossacesia Marina (Supporter Beach). Two routes: approx. 75 km and approx. 111 km through fifteen municipalities in the province of Chieti, with timed sections in Casoli and Fara San Martino.
