The major multi-sector trade fair in the heart of Abruzzo's industrial hub, Atessa
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Val di Sangro, in Atessa (Province of Chieti), Piazza Abruzzo transforms into a vast exhibition center every September. Val di Sangro Expo is a multi-sector event designed to highlight the productive excellence of a territory that serves as the industrial engine of the entire region. It is not a traditional local food festival, but a modern trade fair showcasing the best of the valley: from automotive and agri-food to craftsmanship and technological innovation.
The numbers illustrate the scale of the event: over 200 companies spread across an area that reached 17,000 square meters in the most recent edition, with approximately 6,500 square meters covered. Exhibitors are organized into ten product categories that capture the local economy:
Surrounding the stands are thematic pavilions, villages dedicated to major automotive brands, food areas, children's play zones, an equestrian circuit, and a 250-seat conference hall.
The Val di Sangro Expo program goes beyond a simple commercial showcase. During the fair, conferences and panels address pressing economic and social issues—from the future of the automotive industry to Special Economic Zones, tourism development, and industrial sustainability—with the participation of officials, entrepreneurs, union leaders, and institutional representatives. These are complemented by food and wine tastings led by chefs and sommeliers, cultural events with local associations, and educational outings for schools.
Founded in 2024, the fair is organized by the Municipality of Atessa and has quickly become a landmark event for the entire Val di Sangro and Abruzzo: the first edition alone attracted approximately 50,000 visitors. Admission is free, as is participation in all scheduled activities, making it an event open to families, curious visitors, professionals, and enthusiasts alike.
Visiting Val di Sangro Expo means stepping into the beating heart of the Abruzzo economy while discovering a territory rich in flavors, trades, and future-oriented projects.
The 2026 edition of Val di Sangro Expo is expected in Atessa, at Piazza Abruzzo, following the first two editions that established the event as a showcase for the Val di Sangro industrial district. At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been made public: the event usually takes place in September. As in previous years, over 200 companies from the automotive, innovation, craft, agri-food, tourism, and agricultural sectors are expected, along with conferences, tastings, and areas dedicated to families. The final calendar will be communicated by the Municipality of Atessa.
