Guided walk through the Schlossweg vineyards with wine tasting in Tirolo/Tirol
The Tiroler Weinbergseminar is an event that combines a guided hike with wine culture in the village of Tirolo/Tirol, perched above Merano and giving its name to the entire historical region of Tyrol, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol). Organized by the Tirolo Tourist Office (Tourismusverein Dorf Tirol), the seminar invites participants to stroll through the vines climbing along the Schlossweg, the scenic path leading toward Castel Tirolo, the symbolic heart of South Tyrol.
The route is led by an expert who reveals the secrets of the region's finest wines: the history of local viticulture, cultivation and aging techniques, and the main grape varieties grown on the sunny slopes of the Burggraviato. Walking through the vineyards, participants discover how the unique microclimate of the Merano basin—mild and breezy—favors the production of aromatic white wines and indigenous reds.
At the end of the walk, a tasting of local wines is provided, offering a chance to sample, discuss, and delve deeper into the topics covered along the way.
The Weinbergseminar is an authentic way to experience the viticultural landscape of Tirolo/Tirol, one of the most picturesque in South Tyrol, combining outdoor activity, wine culture, and tasting. It is an experience designed for both enthusiasts and those new to the world of South Tyrolean wine, set against the backdrop of Castel Tirolo and the mountains surrounding the Merano basin.
For summer 2026, the Tiroler Weinbergseminar offers sessions on Thursday afternoons in July and August, starting at 2:30 PM, meeting at the Tirolo/Tirol Tourist Office. Scheduled dates include July 16 and 30 and August 13 and 27, 2026.
