Theate Magic Summer: Magic in the Heart of Chieti

The Theate Magic Summer is a summer festival that blends illusionism and a buskers festival in the historic center of Chieti, a provincial capital in the heart of Abruzzo. Every summer, for a few days, the city's streets and squares transform into a vast open-air stage where magicians, illusionists, acrobats, tightrope walkers, and street artists enchant audiences of all ages. The event is organized by the La Forza dei Diritti Association, with the support of the Municipality of Chieti and the Abruzzo Region.

A Widespread Stage in the Historic Center

The beating heart of the festival is Piazza San Giustino, at the foot of the cathedral, which hosts the grand evening gala featuring the best illusionists on the national and international scene. Meanwhile, free roaming shows animate Corso Marrucino, Piazza G.B. Vico, and the Villa Comunale, where magic acts, comedy, acrobatics, and street food take turns from sunset until late at night.

Between Illusion and Street Arts

The Theate Magic Summer formula weaves together two souls: on one hand, grand stage magic, with a ticketed gala that brings prominent names in illusionism to Chieti; on the other, the buskers festival, with free, widespread performances that invite the public to stroll through the city center, discovering an artist around every corner. Over the years, the artistic direction has been led by illusionist Ottavio Belli.

An Event with a Heart for Charity

The Theate Magic Summer is more than just entertainment: the event is linked to a charity lottery, with proceeds donated to local causes, including the Pediatric Diabetes Center at the Chieti hospital and inclusion projects for families with disabled children. A free shuttle service also connects city parking lots to the historic center, allowing visitors to enjoy the evenings in total comfort.

Born in 2017, the Theate Magic Summer has grown edition after edition to become one of the most recognizable summer events in Chieti and Abruzzo, capable of attracting visitors from across the region and bringing the wonder and amazement of live magic back to the center of city life.
