Traveling theatrical performance in the medieval village of Rosciano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the Night of the Witches is one of the most distinctive autumn events in the Pescara hinterland. Every year, the historic center of Rosciano, a small town in the province of Pescara in Abruzzo, is transformed into a charming medieval setting where dreams and nightmares come to life among alleys, small squares, and illuminated ancient portals.
Founded in 2011 by the Albatros Rosciano Artistic-Cultural Association, the event is not just a costume party: it is a true traveling theatrical performance that guides the audience along a route through the village. Each edition stages a new story, performed in stages by actors and companies that blend legends about witches with the lives of real historical figures, including alchemists, heroes, and rogues.
In recent years, the narrative has taken the form of the "The Cavum" trilogy, of which the 2025 edition represented the second chapter, TARTARIA.
Beyond the main show, the village is filled with activities for all ages:
The event usually takes place on a Saturday in autumn, close to Halloween, with free admission and a shuttle service to reach the village. The combination of theater, re-enactment, and nocturnal atmosphere has made "In the Night of the Witches" an appointment recognized by the official Abruzzo Tourism portal and one of the most original highlights in the Pescara province event calendar.
For autumn 2026, the Albatros Rosciano Artistic-Cultural Association has announced "The Wrath of Kronos", the third and final chapter of the theatrical trilogy "The Cavum", which concludes the narrative journey that began with Millenium and continued with Tartaria in 2025. As per tradition, the traveling show will animate the historic center of Rosciano with acted scenes, live music, street performers, and the event's typical attractions. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: it is recommended to check the association's blog and Facebook page for updates.
Rosciano is located in the hinterland of the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo. By car, it can be reached from the Chieti-Pescara (A25) or Pescara Ovest (A14) motorway exits, continuing along the Val Pescara. The nearest train stations are Chieti and Pescara, which are connected by car or local transport.
Admission to the event is free. The main show takes place in the evening, while the children's show is generally scheduled for the early afternoon/evening. A shuttle service is available during the event for access to the village.
Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking through the alleys and stairways of the historic center are recommended. For updated dates, consult the official blog and Facebook page.
