The festive holiday programme in the village and hamlets of Spoltore
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Christmas in Spoltore is the holiday event calendar through which the Municipality of Spoltore, in the province of Pescara, accompanies the community throughout the month of December and up to Epiphany. Promoted by the Department of Culture, the programme is not concentrated in a single location but is intentionally spread out: it involves the main town and all the hamlets of the Spoltore territory, from Villa Raspa to Santa Teresa, from Caprara to Villa Santa Maria, and even Cavaticchi and Santa Lucia.
The heart of the event lies in the Christmas tree-lighting ceremonies, decorated by children from local schools. Every evening, in a different village, the community gathers around its own tree amidst carols, lights, and small festive moments. It is a participatory ritual that strengthens the sense of belonging and spreads the magic of Christmas throughout every neighbourhood.
The historic centre of Spoltore transforms into an open-air stage with roving attractions: soap bubble shows and magic, stilt walkers, a little train, costumed characters, donkeys, and the spectacular Santa Claus Band. Among the most anticipated events are the Choco Parade, a chocolate-themed parade in Villa Raspa animated by the United Spoltore Choirs, the Disney Celebration, and a concert by the 12 Note youth orchestra in the evocative Church of Santa Teresa. There is also a more intimate and religious dimension, with the roving Christmas Novena through the streets of the historic centre.
In Piazza d'Albenzio, the Santa Claus village comes to life, welcoming young and old on weekends until Epiphany, with little houses, creative workshops, markets, and nativity scene exhibitions set up in the village. The festivities traditionally conclude on January 6th with a performance dedicated to the Three Wise Men and entertainment by the Befana.
With a programme that is almost entirely free of charge, created with the involvement of local associations, pro loco groups, choirs, and schools, Christmas in Spoltore is a defining event for this corner of Abruzzo: not just a single major event, but a network of small celebrations that illuminate every hamlet of the Municipality for a month.
The 2026 edition of Christmas in Spoltore is expected during the usual holiday period, presumably from early December 2026 until Epiphany. Following in the footsteps of previous editions, the Municipality of Spoltore is expected to bring back tree-lighting ceremonies in the hamlets, the Santa Claus village in Piazza d'Albenzio, choir concerts, and roving family attractions.
At the moment, the official dates and the programme for the 2026 edition have not yet been published. The full calendar will be released by the Department of Culture in the weeks leading up to the holidays: this page will be updated as soon as definitive information becomes available.
