About Popoli Pop Cult Festival

The Popoli Pop Cult Festival transforms the small medieval village of Bagnara di Romagna, in the province of Ravenna, into a grand world square every summer. For four days, international gastronomy, ethnic music and dances, art and photography exhibitions, workshops for children, and solidarity projects animate the streets of the historic center and the Rocca Sforzesca. A free event that has been building bridges between generations, peoples, and cultures since 2009, attracting over 20,000 visitors to a municipality of just a few thousand inhabitants.

Four days of world cultures in the heart of Bassa Romagna

The Popoli Pop Cult Festival is one of the most beloved multicultural events in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, at the end of June, the fortified village of Bagnara di Romagna (in the province of Ravenna) opens its doors to the world: its cobbled streets, squares, and the evocative Rocca Sforzesca fill with colors, scents, sounds, and flavors from every corner of the planet. It is a celebration that centers on encounters between peoples, mutual understanding, and dialogue between different cultures.

An event that has grown since 2009

Born in 2009 on the initiative of the Municipality of Bagnara di Romagna and the association Bagnara Eventi APS, the festival has grown year after year to become a landmark for the entire Bassa Romagna region and beyond. Today, it attracts over 20,000 visitors, an extraordinary achievement for a municipality of a few thousand inhabitants, and is supported by the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna and the Emilia-Romagna Region.

What to experience at the festival

The heart of the event is its choral and participatory dimension. Each edition offers:

  • International food stalls: dozens of stands offering tastes from world cuisines, from the Maghreb to Latin America, from sub-Saharan Africa to the Mediterranean.
  • Ethnic music and dances: concerts, dances, and live performances that follow one another on the main stage in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi and in the village streets.
  • Art and photography exhibitions set up in historic spaces, along with displays of crafts and typical products from different countries.
  • Free creative workshops for children, often held in the moat of the Rocca.
  • Guided tours of the Castle Museum and presentations of humanitarian and solidarity projects.

Each year, the festival chooses a theme that serves as a common thread, dedicated to a civilization or a geographical area of the world, taking the audience on a different cultural journey with each edition.

A free event for everyone

Admission to shows, exhibitions, and displays is completely free: you only pay for what you choose to consume at the food stalls and purchase at the markets. This open and inclusive formula has made the Popoli Pop Cult Festival an experience suitable for families, young people, and enthusiasts of world cultures, who flock to Bagnara di Romagna from all over Emilia-Romagna every summer.
