The multicultural festival that brings the peoples of the world to the village of Bagnara di Romagna
The Popoli Pop Cult Festival is one of the most beloved multicultural events in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, at the end of June, the fortified village of Bagnara di Romagna (in the province of Ravenna) opens its doors to the world: its cobbled streets, squares, and the evocative Rocca Sforzesca fill with colors, scents, sounds, and flavors from every corner of the planet. It is a celebration that centers on encounters between peoples, mutual understanding, and dialogue between different cultures.
Born in 2009 on the initiative of the Municipality of Bagnara di Romagna and the association Bagnara Eventi APS, the festival has grown year after year to become a landmark for the entire Bassa Romagna region and beyond. Today, it attracts over 20,000 visitors, an extraordinary achievement for a municipality of a few thousand inhabitants, and is supported by the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna and the Emilia-Romagna Region.
The heart of the event is its choral and participatory dimension. Each edition offers:
Each year, the festival chooses a theme that serves as a common thread, dedicated to a civilization or a geographical area of the world, taking the audience on a different cultural journey with each edition.
Admission to shows, exhibitions, and displays is completely free: you only pay for what you choose to consume at the food stalls and purchase at the markets. This open and inclusive formula has made the Popoli Pop Cult Festival an experience suitable for families, young people, and enthusiasts of world cultures, who flock to Bagnara di Romagna from all over Emilia-Romagna every summer.
The eighteenth edition of the Popoli Pop Cult Festival is dedicated to the theme "Ellenika — the legacy of the great Greek civilization", with an additional focus on Mediterranean Africa, from the Maghreb to Egypt, including Libya. From June 25 to 28, 2026, the village of Bagnara di Romagna will once again transform into a crossroads of peoples and cultures.
The main stage is set up in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, while artistic performances, exhibitions, and displays will animate the Rocca Sforzesca and the streets of the historic center. International food stalls, ethnic music and dances, free creative workshops for children, and guided tours of the Castle Museum are all confirmed.
The festival opens Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 PM with the inaugural ceremony. The evenings continue daily from 6:00 PM until late (estimated closing around 11:55 PM).
The detailed program with the complete lineup of artists and guests will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event on the official website popolipopcultfestival.com.
