Little Festival of Narration

An intimate festival in the heart of Bassa Romagna

The Little Festival of Narration is one of the most beloved events of the summer in Massa Lombarda, a municipality in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 2001, the event stands out for its intimate scale and its choice of a location with strong identity value: the Ex Municipal Washhouse on Via Imola, a historic space that was once a daily meeting point for the town and now welcomes the public for evenings of words, music, and memory.

Three evenings of storytelling, music, and podcasts

Each edition offers three free evening events, capable of intertwining different genres and languages: book presentations, dialogues with writers and journalists, author concerts, and live podcasts. It is precisely this blend of literature, song, and new forms of oral storytelling that makes the festival a recognizable and original event in the Romagna cultural landscape.

The 2026 edition

The 2026 edition is divided into three evenings, Wednesday August 5, Wednesday August 12, and Wednesday August 19, always at the Ex Municipal Washhouse. The program brings together journalist and writer Alessia Arcolaci (August 5), the musical and narrative event S-confini (August 12), and journalist and communicator Lorenzo Tosa (August 19). The festival is supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region as part of the "Radici e Ali" 2026 network project and co-financing for the inBassaRomagna network of the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna.

A place that tells stories

The choice of the Ex Washhouse is not accidental: the natural acoustics and the intimate atmosphere of the space create a direct relationship between guests and the public, where narration becomes a shared experience. In case of bad weather, the events will move to the nearby Sala del Carmine. To accompany the evenings, the "Carlo Venturini" Municipal Library usually offers thematic bibliographical exhibitions and a traveling lending service.
