Theatre and circus arts in Polonghera with the "In Cammino" tour by Scavalcamontagne
In the heart of the Cuneo plains, the small town of Polonghera (Province of Cuneo, Piedmont) hosts a stop on one of the region's most original theatrical experiences: the "In Cammino" tour by the Scavalcamontagne company. The show presented here is The Circus of the Day After, a work that weaves narrative theatre and circus arts into a language suitable for everyone, from children to adults.
At the center of the stage are two forgetful characters who, with curiosity and wonder, try to understand how the world around them works. Words become gestures through the physicality of the artists: on stage, we find classic juggling tools, from diabolos to clubs, balls, and hats, accompanied by live music and acrobatic moments. A poetic and fun show, designed to be accessible even to audiences who rarely have the opportunity to see professional actors live.
Scavalcamontagne is a travelling theatre company born in 2020 from Teatro della Caduta and Torino Open Lab. Its uniqueness lies in how it travels: the artists reach the towns and mountain huts where they perform on foot, with backpacks on their shoulders, often accompanied by residents, tourists, and hikers along the trails. The project combines theatre, poetry, music, and fun, with a special focus on inclusion and the promotion of small towns. Over the years, the formula has won over audiences and the media, receiving recognition even on national television programs.
The strength of the festival lies in bringing quality performances where they usually don't reach: in the squares, courtyards, and social clubs of the smallest towns. As the municipal administration of Polonghera pointed out, having professional actors of this level in town means making art truly accessible to everyone. The Polonghera stop is part of the "Terre dei Savoia" series, which visits various municipalities in the territory between the Provinces of Cuneo and Turin every June.
The show has free admission with a "hat collection": you attend for free and, at the end, leave a voluntary contribution to support the artists. A simple and convivial opportunity to spend a June evening amidst theatre, music, and wonder in the heart of a Piedmontese plain village.
The Polonghera stop of the In Cammino 2026 tour took place on Wednesday, June 11, 2026, at 9 PM, at the Circolo Mimmo Griffa on Via Parrocchia. On stage was the show The Circus of the Day After, featuring two forgetful characters grappling with the world, through juggling, acrobatics, and live music.
The event was part of the eight dates of the "Terre dei Savoia" that opened the sixth edition of the festival, which started on June 9 in Villafranca Piemonte and continued through Moretta, Polonghera, Faule, Casalgrasso, Lombriasco, Bene Vagienna, and Salmour. The initiative, supported by Fondazione CRT and Fondazione CRC with the patronage of the Municipality of Polonghera and the Piedmont Region, featured free admission with a "hat collection."
