The Herbs and Cheeses of the Orobie Alps
Le Erbe del Casaro is a widespread festival that celebrates the wild herbs and cheeses of the Upper Brembana Valley, in the province of Bergamo. The event unfolds across the eleven municipalities of Altobrembo — Averara, Cassiglio, Cusio, Mezzoldo, Olmo al Brembo, Ornica, Piazza Brembana, Piazzatorre, Piazzolo, Santa Brigida, and Valtorta — offering experiences that blend rural culture, mountain gastronomy, and landscape.
In Valtorta and the Villages
The widespread program includes visits to farms and dairies, guided tastings, aperitifs, excursions to discover wild herbs, workshops on medicinal herbs, cultural events, and conferences. In Valtorta, the festival reaches the Latteria Sociale (Dairy Cooperative), with open doors and moments dedicated to the village's cheesemaking tradition, on a path that makes herbs the common thread throughout the valley.
A Slow Food Project
The event is organized by Altobrembo together with Slow Food Valli Orobiche and represents one of the key gastronomic events of the Upper Brembana Valley. For information and reservations, contact Altobrembo ([email protected]).
The Cheesemaker's Herbs — edition 2026
The 16th edition of The Cheesemaker's Herbs confirms the formula of the widespread festival, spread over three weekends between late May and early June 2026 and eleven municipalities of Altobrembo. Wild herbs serve as the common thread for excursions, tastings, farm visits, and workshops.
