The climbing festival in Viù, in the heart of the Valli di Lanzo
Terre Sospese is a festival dedicated to climbing, nature, and community, taking place in Viù, in the province of Turin, in the heart of the Valli di Lanzo, Piedmont. Promoted by the Epokè ODV ETS Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Viù, the event is free and open to everyone: families, enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike. For three days, the local cliffs, trails, and shared spaces become a natural stage where sports, culture, and social connections meet.
The festival is structured around three symbolic dimensions, from which it takes its name:
The schedule alternates free climbing and workshops at the VerticalBlù gym and the La Baita crag, CAI (Italian Alpine Club) hikes towards the peaks of the Valli di Lanzo such as Punta Sourela, morning yoga sessions, talks dedicated to mountain life, inclusion, and territorial regeneration, as well as creative workshops for children and families. There is no shortage of convivial moments: aperitifs, social dinners with traditional menus, live concerts, and DJ sets at sunset.
Terre Sospese is much more than just a climbing event: it stems from a participatory process involving citizens, volunteers, associations, and local bodies to enhance the natural and human heritage of the Viù Valley. Partners include UISP, the Italian Alpine Club, the Pro Loco of Viù, and technical sponsor Petzl, with the support of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo. The festival focuses on accessible sports, participation, inclusion, and an authentic bond with the alpine territory.
Those who reach Viù for Terre Sospese find a rare combination: the chance to try climbing for free, hike at altitude with expert guides, engage in thought-provoking talks, and experience the conviviality of a small mountain village in Piedmont. It is an ideal appointment to discover the Valli di Lanzo in a slow and conscious way, far from mass tourism.
The 2026 edition of Terre Sospese was held in Viù (Turin) from May 29th to 31st, 2026, with three days packed with free events across the village's cliffs, trails, and squares.
Friday the 29th opened at the VerticalBlù gym with free indoor climbing (grades 5A-7A), introductory workshops, Petzl stands, a "Suspended in Time" talk, an aperitif, and a screening of the film Valley Uprising. Saturday the 30th featured a CAI hike to Punta Sourela (1,777 m), yoga, outdoor climbing at the La Baita crag, a talk on inclusion in the mountains, a social dinner, and a funk concert by the band Maracuja. Sunday the 31st included yoga, creative workshops for children, the "Fortune Fair" through the streets of Viù, an amateur climbing competition, awards, an aperitif, and a sunset DJ set.
