A day of celebration and sharing focused on organic, social, and fair-trade agriculture in Cambiano
Terra in Tempera is a day entirely dedicated to organic and social agriculture, fair trade, and community bonds, held in Cambiano, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont. The event stems from the partnership between the Della Rava e della Fava Consumer Cooperative of Asti and the Esserci Social Cooperative of Turin, two historic Piedmontese organizations that celebrate their fortieth anniversary together in 2026.
The heart of the event lies within the grounds and buildings of the former Fornace Carena, now home to the Munlab, an ecomuseum of clay that preserves the industrial and artisanal heritage of the area. In this evocative setting, suspended between the quarry, repurposed industrial sheds, and cultivated fields, the day is designed for families, curious visitors, farmers, and lovers of good, ethical food.
Throughout the day, an exhibition area hosts a market featuring artisans, local producers, and regional supply chains, offering drinks, fresh fruit, and delicacies for a zero-mile, organic, and fair-trade lunch, in collaboration with PuntoEquo. There is also a relaxation and picnic area where you can bring your own blanket and eat in good company with background music, as well as the exhibition La Buona Memoria, which recounts forty years of the cooperative's commitment to promoting organic and biodynamic farming and fair trade.
Alongside the market, a packed program of events unfolds: conferences on local organic farming, agricultural education moments to discover plants, poultry, and bees, clay modeling workshops curated by the Munlab, documentary screenings, a roundtable on food as a common good, and guided tours of the quarry and ecomuseum. Activities for children, organized by the CiL association, make Terra in Tempera a festival truly suitable for everyone.
More than just a simple festival, Terra in Tempera is a manifesto: it places social agriculture, food justice, and participation at the centerโvalues that have driven the work of the two organizing cooperatives for decades. For those visiting Cambiano and the hilly area south of Turin, it is the perfect opportunity to get to know the Piedmontese organic scene up close, shop directly from producers, and discover a site of material culture like the Munlab. Admission is free.
For 2026, Terra in Tempera coincides with the fortieth anniversary of the two organizing cooperatives and takes place in the repurposed spaces of the former Fornace Carena in Cambiano. The day combines a market of local producers and artisans, moments of cultural insight, and activities for families, all in the spirit of organic, social, and fair-trade agriculture.
The entire event is free to enter, with an area dedicated to zero-mile lunch and a picnic space open to everyone.
