The food, wine, and cultural festival of Monteu Roero, in the heart of the Roero region
Tasta…Tasta… is one of the most beloved events in the Roero region, held every third weekend of June in Monteu Roero, a small town in the province of Cuneo nestled among the vine-covered hills of Piedmont. Reaching its 22nd edition in 2026, the festival is organized by the Bel Monteu Cultural and Tourist Association, a group of citizens passionate about their castle and their land, who for over twenty years have combined gastronomy, culture, and hospitality into a single weekend.
The dialect name Tasta…Tasta… ("taste, taste") perfectly captures the spirit of the event: an invitation to sample the wines of Monteu, the Arneis of the Rocche, and local specialties. Food and wine stalls offer local products and traditional Roero dishes, while producers from Slow Food Travel Roero host convivial lunches. There are also guided tastings and masterclasses dedicated to the white wines of the Roero, true gems of the Piedmontese hills.
Tasta…Tasta… is also about culture: the Castle of Monteu Roero opens its doors for guided tours, art exhibitions, and book presentations in the evocative Limonaia. The program also includes the famous "Notturni nelle Rocche" (Night Walks in the Rocche), evening strolls to discover the characteristic sandy canyons that define the Roero landscape, often accompanied by scientific or nature-themed talks.
The atmosphere is that of an authentic Piedmontese village festival: convivial, welcoming, and deeply rooted in the community. Tasta…Tasta… is an ideal opportunity to discover Monteu Roero and the wider Roero region, with its UNESCO-listed hills, vineyards, canyons, and the charm of a village that guards its castle like a treasure.
The 22nd edition of Tasta…Tasta… takes place in Monteu Roero from June 19th to 21st, 2026. Three days dedicated to the wines, local products, and culture of the Roero, organized by the Bel Monteu Association between the historic center and the castle.
Friday evening kicks off the event with the opening of the "Ritrovo dell'olmo" in Piazza Roma and the "Notturni nelle Rocche"; Saturday is dedicated to the Arneis delle Rocche masterclass at the castle and the opening of the food and wine stalls with folk music; Sunday features open castles, exhibitions, games, guided tours, a Slow Food lunch, and a book presentation in the Limonaia.
Monteu Roero is located in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of the Piedmontese Roero. By car, it can be reached from the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway (Alba exit) or the A6 Turin-Savona motorway, continuing along the hilly roads of the Roero. The nearest train station is Bra, from where you can continue by car or local transport.
The event takes place on the third weekend of June, from Friday to Sunday, with both daytime and evening events held in the historic center and at the castle.
Access to the festival is free; some activities (tastings, masterclasses, Slow Food lunches) may require a fee or reservation.
