Major open-water swimming comes to the Etruscan Coast
SwimTheIsland makes its first appearance in Tuscany, choosing the coastline of San Vincenzo, in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, in the province of Livorno. On June 20 and 21, 2026, the beach of the Rimigliano Coastal Park will become the stage for a new leg of the national open-water swimming circuit, one of the most highly regarded events for open-water enthusiasts in the country.
The clear waters and sandy seabeds of Rimigliano, with views opening up toward the Island of Elba and the Piombino promontory, offer an ideal setting for open-sea swimmers. The Rimigliano Park is a protected natural area stretching over six kilometers of coastline, featuring dunes, Mediterranean scrub, and pine forests: a backdrop that perfectly blends sporting challenges with the pleasure of enjoying the Tuscan landscape.
The program offers formats designed for both experienced swimmers and those new to open-water swimming:
SwimTheIsland is also about celebration and community. The Expo Village comes to life along the beach, featuring the race office, bib collection, and partner stands, while the Pirlo Party on the first evening turns the post-race atmosphere into a social gathering for athletes, families, and supporters. The event, expected to draw around 500 participants from across Italy and abroad, highlights San Vincenzo as a premier destination for sports and seaside tourism.
The stage is organized by TriO Eventi ssd, the creators of the SwimTheIsland circuit, with the support of the Municipality of San Vincenzo, the Province of Livorno, and the Tuscany Region, with hu Park Albatros Village as the official hospitality partner. As Mayor Paolo Riccucci noted, San Vincenzo is proud to host a stage of SwimTheIsland for the first time, strengthening the role of the Tuscan coast as a destination for outdoor sports lovers.
The weekend of June 20-21, 2026, marks the inauguration of the Tuscan stage of SwimTheIsland in San Vincenzo. Saturday, June 20, opens with the Expo Village and the race office for bib collection, followed by youth events, Family and Team Relays, the 1,800-meter Short Swim, and the first leg of the Combined Swim; in the evening, the evocative 1,500-meter Sunset Swim and the Pirlo Party. Sunday, June 21, features the 3,200-meter Classic Swim and the second leg of the Combined Swim, followed by the final awards ceremony. Approximately 500 athletes from Italy and abroad are expected.
