The winter festival of sweet polenta at the Circolo La Pace in Compiobbi, a village in Fiesole
The Sweet Polenta and Winter Specialties Festival is one of the two major gastronomic events of the year at the Circolo Ricreativo La Pace in Compiobbi, a small village in the municipality of Fiesole, in the Province of Florence and the heart of Tuscany. Along with the Fish Festival, it represents the most anticipated moment of the season for the club, which was founded in 1906 and has always been a reference point for the local community.
The heart of the festival is naturally the polenta, prepared according to Tuscan peasant traditions. Alongside the classic version, the event highlights sweet polenta, a dish tied to local folk culture and less known to the general public. The menu is completed with seasonal winter specialties, warm and hearty dishes designed for the cold evenings of late winter.
The club's kitchen opens every evening starting at 7:30 PM, located at Via della Stazione 1, just a short walk from the Compiobbi train station. The atmosphere is that of a typical village festival: convivial long tables, a family-friendly vibe, and service provided by the club's volunteers. Given the popularity of the event, booking is recommended.
The festival is organized by the Circolo Ricreativo La Pace in collaboration with Unicoop Firenze (Florence North East members section). The proceeds support the association's numerous activities: cultural meetings, literary presentations, exhibitions, courses, and solidarity initiatives, including hosting the Florence branch of Emergency. Participating in the festival means combining the pleasure of good food with support for local community life.
Nestled along the Arno River, at the foot of the Fiesole hills, Compiobbi is a lively village with excellent connections to Florence. The festival is a great opportunity to discover this corner of Tuscany off the beaten tourist path, combining your visit with a walk through the Fiesole hills or a stop in the nearby city of art.
The 2026 Sweet Polenta and Winter Specialties Festival was held at the Circolo Ricreativo La Pace in Compiobbi (Fiesole) over two extended weekends: February 26, 27, 28 and March 1, followed by March 5, 6, 7 and 8. Every evening, starting at 7:30 PM, the club's volunteers served traditional polenta-based dishes alongside seasonal winter specialties.
The event, organized in collaboration with Unicoop Firenze, confirmed its role as one of the most beloved convivial gatherings for the Compiobbi community.
