The Pro Loco summer festival across squares, local venues, and the municipal park
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Summer Refresh is the summer program of Pratola Serra, a town of just over 3,500 inhabitants in the province of Avellino, in inland Campania. This is not a festival concentrated in a single location: the organizers have chosen a widespread format, with events spread over seven weeks across the town squares, the municipal park, and local bars and venues. The goal is simple and clear: to keep the community vibrant during the months when the town repopulates with summer returnees and outdoor evening life.
The name Summer Refresh first appeared in the summer of 2025, when the Pro Loco Pratola Serra organized various initiatives that had previously been scattered across the calendar under a single banner. The project was born in collaboration with the Municipality of Pratola Serra and local merchants: bars, pubs, and businesses along the main street host a large part of the evenings, in a shared festival logic that keeps costs down and distributes the audience across multiple points of the town rather than concentrating them in a single event area.
The program of the first edition perfectly captured the spirit of the event, which is intentionally popular and cross-generational:
The peak of attendance falls around August 15th: in 2025, the Pratola Ferragosto took place at the Parco delle Mura, next to the church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, followed the next day by La Corrida, an amateur talent show held in the town center. These events best represent the nature of the festival: no big names on stage, plenty of direct participation from residents, and a summer built from the ground up.
The municipality was founded in 1812 from the merger of two distinct centers: Serra di Pratola, perched on the slope overlooking the Sabato river valley, and Pratola, which grew along the road axis towards Puglia and eventually became the administrative center. It is a transit territory, now crossed by routes linked to the Cammino di Guglielmo and located just a few kilometers from Avellino. The local festival calendar concludes in September with the patronal feast, dedicated to the Madonna Addolorata and Saint Gerard, traditionally held on the first Sunday of the month.
It should be noted clearly: Summer Refresh is a recently established festival, and as of now, no official program has been published for the summer of 2026. Those planning a visit should check for updates on the Pro Loco channels before traveling. In the first edition, there was no ticketing system: events took place in public spaces and local venues, with any consumption at the participants' expense.
For the summer of 2026, there is currently no official communication regarding a new edition of Summer Refresh in Pratola Serra. The name appeared for the first time in 2025, and it is not yet clear whether the festival is intended to become a consolidated annual event for the Municipality of Pratola Serra, in the province of Avellino.
Those wishing to follow the potential return of the event can monitor the channels of the Pro Loco Pratola Serra, which published the calendar close to the start date in the first edition, at the beginning of July. The dates indicated above are purely indicative and do not correspond to an official announcement from the organizers.
Pratola Serra is located in the Sabato Valley, about a dozen kilometers from Avellino. By car, you can reach it from the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway (Avellino Est exit) or from the Avellino-Salerno junction, then continuing towards Prata di Principato Ultra. The reference railway station is Avellino, connected by local bus lines; the nearest airport is Naples-Capodichino, about an hour away by road.
Events are distributed throughout the town center: Piazza 2 Ottobre, via Vittorio Emanuele, the municipal park, the Parco delle Mura, and the local venues along the main street. All are within walking distance of each other.
In the first edition, there was no ticketing for the evenings in the square. For the updated program, it is best to contact the Pro Loco Pratola Serra (Via G. Picardo 31-33, tel. +39 348 3194031, [email protected]) or follow their Facebook page, where posters are published.
Evenings take place outdoors and end late: a light sweater is useful for late August nights, when the temperature drops significantly in the hills. Parking is available in the town center areas, which fill up quickly on the busiest nights.
