The summer festival of the Valle Caudina featuring music, open-air cinema, Partenio flavors, and sports
Cervinara Under the Stars is the summer festival of the Municipality of Cervinara, in the province of Avellino, located in the heart of the Valle Caudina at the foot of the Partenio massif. Originally conceived as a series of evening events in the town squares, it has grown over the years to become one of the longest-running events in northern Irpinia. In 2026, it reached its seventeenth edition, spanning the entire calendar from late July to the last week of September.
The festival is promoted by the Municipal Administration, through the Department of Culture and Entertainment, together with the "Angelo Renna" Pro Loco and dozens of local associations that manage individual events. The result is a deliberately diverse program designed for a wide range of audiences: families, young people, music lovers, sports enthusiasts, and visitors from neighboring towns.
The beating heart of the event is the Villa Comunale, whose green setting hosts the main concerts and evening screenings. Other events are spread across Piazza Trescine, Piazza Regina Elena, Piazza Sant'Adiutore, and the Culture Hall on Via Trescine, as well as the various hamlets that host the gastronomic evenings—a deliberate choice to bring events to all neighborhoods.
Music has always been the backbone of the program. Alongside local bands and the Cervinara Music Fest, the festival hosts a nationally renowned name every year. In 2026, the most anticipated moment was the concert by Enrico Ruggeri in the Villa Comunale, while previous editions have featured artists such as Andrea Sannino and Clementino.
There is also ample space for opera with the Racconto dell'Opera Festival, which brings voices and instrumentalists such as Nicola Pisaniello, Alessandra Arena, Mimma Briganti, Mario Ceci, Gabriele Mouhlen, and Saverio Coletta to the town: a way to introduce the operatic repertoire to those who do not regularly attend theaters.
The open-air cinema series "Hollywood Nights" accompanies the entire summer, with screenings distributed throughout July, August, and September. In September, the Caudium Film Festival takes place—an international film festival dedicated to themes of the environment and inclusion—which helps close the calendar alongside the Fashion Week event.
The food and wine section is particularly rich and reflects the woodland vocation of the mountain that overlooks the town:
The program reserves plenty of space for amateur sports: beach volleyball and beach soccer tournaments, conferences on sports and tourism, games for children, and the chess tournament organized by A.S.D. Scacchi Valle Caudina, which in 2026 opened the festival in the Culture Hall as a stage of the Valle Caudina Grand Prix. There is no shortage of charity events and moments of civil and religious remembrance, such as the concert in honor of the Patron Saint that opens the month of September.
The project presented by the Municipality of Cervinara was selected and funded with 30,000 euros as part of the regional cultural calls managed by Scabec, alongside events in cities like Naples, Capri, Pompeii, and Salerno. This recognition allowed for the expansion of the program to about fifty events.
Those who arrive in Cervinara in summer will find an event that is not a staged tourist showcase, but the calendar of a community coming together: the same evenings bring together a famous singer-songwriter's concert, a tasting of Partenio mushrooms, a beach volleyball match played by local youths, and a film screened under the trees of the Villa. It is also a great starting point for exploring the Partenio Regional Park and the nearby villages of the province of Avellino.
From July 26 to September 27, 2026, Cervinara hosts the seventeenth edition of its summer festival, promoted by the Municipality together with the "Angelo Renna" Pro Loco and numerous local associations. The program gathers dozens of initiatives — concerts, open-air cinema, food festivals, sports events, gastronomic events, cultural meetings, and charity evenings — transforming squares, the Villa Comunale, and iconic places of the town into a large open-air stage.
The opening was entrusted to the chess tournament on July 26 in the Culture Hall on Via Trescine, organized by A.S.D. Scacchi Valle Caudina with the Pro Loco: 53 registered participants arrived from the Valle Caudina and the provinces of Naples, Caserta, Molise, and Lazio, plus a tournament reserved for young beginners, for the fourth stage of the first Valle Caudina Grand Prix.
From the following day, the open-air cinema series "Hollywood Nights" began, accompanying the entire summer with screenings distributed between July, August, and September.
August concentrates the bulk of the program: the Undergrowth Festival, the Taste Square, the Mountain Festival, the Beer Festival, and the days of TartufArte, along with the various editions of Cereris Arà distributed throughout the summer. There is no shortage of the traditional White Dinner, beach volleyball and beach soccer tournaments, the Cervinara Music Fest, and conferences dedicated to sports and tourism.
The Racconto dell'Opera Festival is dedicated to opera, with artists such as Nicola Pisaniello, Alessandra Arena, Mimma Briganti, Mario Ceci, Gabriele Mouhlen, and Saverio Coletta. The highlight of the edition, however, is the Enrico Ruggeri concert, expected on Thursday, August 27 at 9 PM in the Villa Comunale, with a draw that goes well beyond municipal borders.
September offers the concert in honor of the Patron Saint, the memorial evening dedicated to Monsignor Pasquale Maria Mainolfi, the Caudium Film Festival — an international film festival on cinema, environment, and inclusion — and the final appointment dedicated to the Fashion Week, scheduled for Sunday, September 27.
Dates and times of individual events are released progressively on the channels of the Municipality of Cervinara and the "Angelo Renna" Pro Loco.

No entrance fees have been announced: the festival is organized by the Municipality with the contribution of the Campania Region, and events in the squares and the Villa Comunale are available until capacity is reached.
