Sulla Via dell'Arbo

A walk in the heart of the Biella region

Sulla Via dell'Arbo is the traditional walking event organized by the Gruppo Sportivo di Graglia, an annual gathering that draws hikers and families to the municipality of Graglia, in the province of Biella, Piedmont. The event is dedicated to discovering the most evocative trails and corners of the village, set in the Elvo Valley at the foot of the Sacro Monte and the famous Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Loreto.

The route and the landscape

The walk winds along agro-forestry paths that cross woods, meadows, and historic farmsteads in the Graglia area. The route offers stunning views over the Elvo Valley and, on clear days, the Alpine arc. Sulla Via dell'Arbo stems from the deep bond between the Graglia community and its agro-forestry landscape: an itinerary that highlights the work of those who manage these lands daily and preserves the memory of the area's transformation—themes also central to the educational project developed with the local school and the Consorzio Forestale delle Montagne Biellesi.

An event for everyone

Sulla Via dell'Arbo is a convivial event open to all: experienced hikers, families with children, and anyone curious to spend a morning in nature. Meeting and registration start at 9:00 AM, with the walk departing from the center of Graglia. It is a non-competitive event, designed to enjoy the slow rhythm of hiking and the beauty of the Biella mountains.

Graglia and its surroundings

Graglia is a small town in the province of Biella, best known for its Sacro Monte and the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Loreto, situated at an altitude of approximately 690 meters, one of the four great sanctuaries of the Biella area. The village is an ideal starting point for numerous excursions in the Elvo Valley, including the famous acoustic phenomenon of the Sanctuary's echo and the trails leading toward Mount Mombarone and the Ingagna dam. The Sulla Via dell'Arbo walk is part of this naturalistic and hiking tradition, offering a chance to discover the authentic and lesser-known side of this corner of Piedmont.
