The charity fun run and walk through the hills of Rosta
Su e Giù per Rosta is a fun run and walk that gathers residents, families, and walking enthusiasts every June along the streets and hills of Rosta, a small town in the Susa Valley in the province of Turin, Piedmont. Promoted by the Sports Department of the Municipality of Rosta together with the Pro Loco Rosta and numerous local businesses, the event combines outdoor physical activity with a strong charitable spirit.
The course spans approximately four kilometers and is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. The start is at the Casa delle Associazioni on Via Dante Alighieri, and the route leads participants toward the Morainic Hills in the Pessina area, reaching the iconic Big Bench, the large panoramic bench that has become a symbol of the area. The return journey follows Via Corbiglia, bringing walkers back to the starting point.
The true heart of the initiative is charity: all proceeds from registration fees are donated to two organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer, UGI (Italian Parents' Union Against Childhood Tumors) and WALCE (Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe). Walking together thus becomes a concrete gesture of support and community.
Beyond the walk, the event offers a moment of conviviality for the whole town. During the event, a raffle is held with prizes offered by sponsors and local merchants, while the evening gathering creates a festive atmosphere that involves both young and old. It has become a highly anticipated date on the Rosta summer calendar, blending sport, nature, solidarity, and local spirit.
Nestled on the first hills rising from the Turin plains toward the Susa Valley, Rosta offers scenic views, green spaces, and a vibrant community life. The Big Bench reached by the route is a favorite spot for residents and hikers alike, perfect for admiring the hilly landscape at sunset. Participating in Su e Giù per Rosta means discovering this corner of Piedmont on foot, in good company, and for a good cause.
The 2026 edition of Su e Giù per Rosta is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026. The meeting point is from 4:00 PM at the Casa delle Associazioni on Via Dante Alighieri, while the start of the walk is set for 8:00 PM.
The initiative, promoted by the Sports Department of the Municipality of Rosta together with the Pro Loco, reaffirms its charitable nature: proceeds will be donated to the UGI and WALCE associations. The detailed program, including the route, fees, and evening activities, will be announced via the official poster; for information, you can write to [email protected].
