The food and wine bike ride through farmhouses and flavors of Concordia sulla Secchia
Stuzzicabici is one of the most beloved events in Concordia sulla Secchia, a municipality in the province of Modena in Emilia-Romagna overlooking the Secchia river. The idea is simple and successful: a multi-stage food and wine bike ride that crosses the countryside and hamlets of the area, alternating flat cycling with the discovery of local peasant flavors. It's not a race, but a leisurely ride open to everyone—adults, families, and children—designed to enjoy the landscape of the Bassa Modenese at a relaxed pace.
The route winds for about 22 kilometers, entirely flat, ideal even for those who are not expert cyclists. Along the way, there are five gastronomic stops set up at characteristic farmhouses and agricultural businesses, where participants can stop to taste the typical products of the area. The route passes through the hamlets of Concordia, such as San Giovanni, Santa Caterina, Vallalta, and Fossa, in an itinerary that highlights the rural farmhouses, agricultural businesses, and zero-km products of the Emilian plain.
The common thread of the day is typical Emilian gastronomy. At each stage, participants can taste local specialties, from local cured meats like salami and mortadella to the famous gnocco fritto, to fresh pasta and traditional desserts, always accompanied by Lambrusco—the symbolic wine of these lands, available in the Sorbara, Grasparossa, and Salamino varieties. The final stop in Concordia concludes the ride with a convivial lunch and the classic homemade ring cake.
Stuzzicabici is organized by the Pro Loco Concordia sulla Secchia, which has been active for years in promoting the territory and cycle tourism along the Secchia river. The event, now in its tenth edition, has become a regular fixture of the Concordia spring: a joyful way to rediscover one's land, support local agricultural businesses, and spend a day outdoors in good company.
The 2026 edition of Stuzzicabici was held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with departure at 8:30 AM from the Parco delle Rimembranze (Giardino di Palazzo Corbelli), in the center of Concordia sulla Secchia. The date was initially scheduled for May 10 and was later postponed to May 24 by the organizing Pro Loco.
As per tradition, the day featured the multi-stage food and wine bike ride along a flat route through the hamlets, with five gourmet stops dedicated to local typical products and Lambrusco.
The specific names of the hosting businesses and the menus for each stage will be communicated by the Pro Loco closer to the event on their official channels.
The five gastronomic stops among the farmhouses of the Bassa Modenese and the tasting of local Lambruscos (Sorbara, Grasparossa, Salamino) remain the heart of the event, along with the final convivial lunch in Concordia.
Meeting point and start at the Parco delle Rimembranze (Giardino di Palazzo Corbelli), in the center of Concordia sulla Secchia (MO). Departure at 8:30 AM, return expected in the late morning/early afternoon.
