About Motta Festival

In the heart of summer, the hamlet of Motta in Cavezzo, in the Bassa modenese region, comes alive with the Motta Festival - Our Lady of the Snows. A traditional village festival that for over a week, between late July and early August, brings the community together around Emilian gastronomic specialties, live music, and shows. The event, which culminates on August 5th with the religious feast of Our Lady of the Snows and fireworks, combines conviviality and solidarity: part of the proceeds are donated to charity.

A village festival in the heart of the Bassa modenese

The Motta Festival - Our Lady of the Snows is one of the most cherished summer festivals in the hamlet of Motta, a small community in the Municipality of Cavezzo, in the province of Modena (Emilia-Romagna). Held in the spaces of Via Nuova Molza, in the heart of the Bassa modenese, the festival takes place between late July and early August, spanning numerous consecutive evenings. It is an event deeply rooted in the territory, capable of attracting residents and visitors from neighboring municipalities every year.

Tradition, devotion, and community

The festival is named after Our Lady of the Snows, a religious feast celebrated on August 5th and to whom the hamlet's church is dedicated. Over time, the village festival has developed around this anniversary, intertwining the devotional dimension with the convivial and popular one. The event is organized by the hamlet's volunteers with the patronage of the Municipality of Cavezzo and represents an opportunity, as highlighted by the municipal administration, to "come together, taste the flavors of tradition, and support the territory with concrete acts of solidarity".

Emilian cuisine and themed evenings

The beating heart of the event is the gastronomic stand, which offers dishes from the Emilian and Modenese tradition. Each evening features its own menu and entertainment, ensuring a fresh offering throughout the festival. Alongside the food, there is plenty of live music, dancing, and entertainment initiatives, creating a welcoming and family-friendly festive atmosphere suitable for all ages.

Charity and solidarity

A distinctive feature of the Motta Festival is its solidarity: part of the proceeds are donated to charity, confirming the link between the festival, the community, and the territory. The event thus takes on a value that goes beyond simple entertainment, becoming a moment of social cohesion for the entire hamlet.

The grand finale on August 5th

The highlight of the festival is the evening of August 5th, the day of Our Lady of the Snows, when the fireworks displays and religious events join the festivities. The fireworks over the sky of the Bassa modenese ideally close the festive evenings, offering the community of Motta and its visitors a highly anticipated spectacle.
