A feast of flavors in the heart of the Palermo hinterland

Street Food - Sapori Antichi is the gastronomic event that brings the village of Montelepre, in the province of Palermo, to life every year at the end of August. Promoted by the municipal administration together with the Pro Loco Montelepre, the festival was created to celebrate street food and local products, rediscovering the ancient flavors of Sicilian culinary tradition in a welcoming, grassroots atmosphere.

The flavors of Sicilian street food

The heart of the event is the gastronomic trail set up along the streets and in Piazzale Portella della Ginestra, where stalls offer the best of the island's street food. Among the most beloved specialties are:

• Pasta all'antica and scacciata monteleprina, signature dishes of the village;
• Panelle and crocchè, icons of Palermo's deli culture;
• Milza and stigliole, for those with more traditional palates;
• Arancine and other local sweet and savory delicacies.

There is also space for show cooking, with local chefs demonstrating the preparation of recipes deeply rooted in the village's heritage.

Music, shows, and fun for everyone

Beyond the gastronomy, Street Food - Sapori Antichi is a true village festival: the evenings are accompanied by live music, DJ sets, cabaret, folk performances, and plenty of entertainment. Ample space is reserved for families, with entertainment and activities for children, making the event suitable for all ages.

When it takes place

The festival is traditionally held on the last weekend of August, featuring a two-evening format. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is recommended to follow the official Pro Loco Montelepre channels for the updated program.
