Stincobirrata: beer, pork knuckle, and merriment in Montecoronaro

There is a small village perched on the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, a stone's throw from Mount Fumaiolo where the Tiber River is born, which every year around mid-August transforms into the capital of beer and pork knuckle: it is Montecoronaro, a hamlet of the Municipality of Verghereto, in the province of Forlì-Cesena. Here, on August 14th, Stincobirrata takes place, one of the most beloved and jovial summer festivals in the upper Savio Valley.

The event was born from the enthusiasm of the local young people, who joined forces in the Pro Loco Montecoronaro to create an evening capable of attracting people from all over the valley and beyond. The formula is simple and successful: plenty of craft beer flowing freely, hearty meat dishes, and a carefree atmosphere that lasts until late at night.

What to eat and drink

The queen of the table is she, the specialty that gives the festival its name: the pork knuckle, slow-cooked and generously served. Alongside the pork knuckle, there are wild boar burgers and other meat delicacies, all accompanied by selected craft beer, the true protagonist along with the cuisine.

Games and fun

Stincobirrata is not just about food: it's above all about fun. Between courses, young and old compete in the jovial games that have become a classic of the festival, such as keg tossing, mug tossing, and the inevitable beer pong tournaments. The soundtrack to the evening is provided by live music, accompanying the festival from opening until late at night.
