Every Sunday in October between tortelli alla lastra, chestnuts, and zambudello in the spa town of the Savio valley
In Bagno di Romagna, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, autumn is the season of festivals. For all Sundays in October and until November 1st, the historic center of the spa town in Emilia-Romagna hosts the Autumn Festivals, a widespread food and wine event organized by the Pro Loco of Bagno di Romagna. It is not a single large festival, but a series of small weekly feasts, each dedicated to a typical product of the peasant tradition of the Savio valley.
The heart of the event is mountain cuisine. Every Sunday, the Pro Loco's food stall offers seasonal specialties: tortelli alla lastra, cooked on a hot stone according to ancient Romagna custom; zambudelle, tasty fresh sausages made from minced pork seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic; chestnuts in the versions of roasted chestnuts (caldarroste) and chestnut cake (castagnaccio); and fried schiaccina. There is also piadina, pork roast, fried potatoes, local wine, and beer, to be enjoyed in the crisp atmosphere of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines.
Around the food stalls, every festival Sunday the town comes alive with a market of crafts and local products, entertainment for adults and children, live music, street artists, and inflatable games for children. The setting is the evocative Piazza Ricasoli and the streets of the historic center, a short walk from the famous thermal baths that have made Bagno di Romagna famous since Roman times.
The Autumn Festivals are also the perfect opportunity to experience the foliage in the heart of the Casentinesi Forests National Park, Monte Falterona, and Campigna, of which Bagno di Romagna is one of the gateways. A typical day combines a walk through the woods colored red and gold with a delicious stop at the festival stalls, in one of the most characteristic villages of the upper Savio valley.
The 2026 Autumn Festivals in Bagno di Romagna will be held every Sunday in October (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th) and Sunday, November 1st, as confirmed by the Municipality's tourist information website. Each event includes the Pro Loco's food stall, a market, entertainment with live music, street artists, and inflatable games for children in Piazza Ricasoli and the historic center.
