The grand finale of the Enoteca's fortieth anniversary celebrations, in the heart of Barbaresco
On July 5, 2026, the municipality of Barbaresco, a small village in the Langhe region of the province of Cuneo, transforms into a grand square festival to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Enoteca Regionale del Barbaresco. The date is no coincidence: the Enoteca was founded on July 5, 1986, and forty years later, on the same day, the entire Barbaresco community gathers to toast together.
This festival is the grand finale of a full year of celebrations, which began on May 4, 2026, with an official toast at the Visione Restaurant & Living in the Tre Stelle area, and continued with the 32nd edition of "Barbaresco a Tavola". The July 5th event is designed to be more popular and convivial than previous gatherings, welcoming not only industry professionals but all enthusiasts of this great Piedmontese red wine.
The Enoteca Regionale del Barbaresco is housed in a place of extraordinary charm: the former church of the Confraternita di San Donato, located in Piazza del Municipio. Deconsecrated and now dedicated to the promotion of wine, its vaults offer the perfect setting to discover and taste labels from a small yet world-renowned territory.
Today, the Enoteca represents 158 associated wineries, covering virtually all producers of the denomination. As President Mauro Carbone stated, "the entire universe of Barbaresco is recognized here": it serves as a landmark for wineries in the municipalities of Barbaresco, Neive, and Treiso, the lands where Barbaresco DOCG is born.
Produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, Barbaresco is one of the most prestigious wines in Piedmont and Italy, often compared to its "big brother," Barolo. The Langhe hills where it matures are a UNESCO World Heritage siteโa landscape of vineyards, villages, and cellars that attracts wine tourists from all over the world every year.
The July 5th square festival celebrates not just an anniversary, but an entire community: the winemakers, historic families, industry professionals, and the many enthusiasts who have made Barbaresco a recognized excellence. It is an opportunity to experience the village, discover its cellars, and immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of the Langhe wine country.
The square festival on July 5, 2026, concludes the celebratory year of the 40th anniversary of the Enoteca Regionale del Barbaresco. The date coincides with the foundation day, which took place on July 5, 1986, in the former church of the Confraternita di San Donato.
The event is designed as a collective and popular moment, open not only to industry professionals but to all enthusiasts, to toast together to forty years of history of Barbaresco and its Enoteca, which today brings together 158 associated wineries.
The detailed program for the July 5, 2026, square festival (times, participating wineries, tastings, and entertainment) will be announced on the official channels of the Enoteca Regionale del Barbaresco in the weeks leading up to the event.
