The showcase of Nizza DOCG at Palazzo Crova
Il Nizza è is the event that puts the spotlight on Nizza DOCG, the pure Barbera d'Asti that has achieved the status of an independent denomination and represents one of the pinnacles of Monferrato winemaking. The event takes place in Nizza Monferrato, in the province of Asti, in the heart of the Piedmont wine region, transforming the town into the capital of this great red wine for an entire weekend.
The headquarters of the event is Palazzo Crova, home to the Palazzo del Gusto: a fascinating multimedia museum where Monferrato's food and wine culture is narrated through the three types of cuisine from which it took shape: noble, popular, and bourgeois. This is where the tasting stations come to life, six spots where visitors can sample over 120 labels under the guidance of AIS sommeliers.
More than just a fair, Il Nizza è offers a narrative journey: tastings, but also stories belonging to the territory, to explore all the nuances and distinctive traits of Nizza DOCG starting from its roots. Alongside the tasting stations, there are meetings, round tables, book presentations, and photography exhibitions, as well as a guest Consortium representing another great Italian denomination and stalls dedicated to typical Monferrato products.
The event is aimed at both the general public of wine lovers and industry professionals and the press. For the latter, free accreditation is available, while members of major sommelier associations can access the event at a reduced rate. It is organized by the Enoteca Regionale di Nizza together with the Municipality of Nizza Monferrato and the Association of Nizza Producers, with the support of the Piedmont Region. A well-established appointment in the Monferrato autumn calendar, perfect for those who want to understand why Nizza DOCG is considered one of the noblest expressions of Barbera.
The seventh edition of Il Nizza è will be held in Nizza Monferrato from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5, 2026, confirming the appointment on the first weekend of October. The heart of the event remains the six tasting stations set up at Palazzo Crova, with over 120 labels of Nizza DOCG. The tasting is guided by AIS sommeliers, with booking by time slot.
The event opens on Saturday, October 3, with the inauguration at the former Church of the Santissima Trinità. Alongside the tastings, the program includes meetings, presentations, and in-depth sessions on the Nizza DOCG territory.
The detailed program of meetings, round tables, and guests for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Enoteca Regionale di Nizza in the weeks leading up to the event.
