Spring in the Village is the festival that welcomes the arrival of the warmer season in the historic center of Montefino, a town in the province of Teramo, nestled in the heart of the hilly Abruzzo region overlooking the Fino river valley. For an entire day, the village streets come alive with colors, scents, and flavors, in a journey designed to showcase one of the most characteristic towns in the Teramo area.

A journey through flowers and traditions

The heart of the event lies in the floral decorations arranged along the town's streets, creating a visual itinerary that enhances the charm of the medieval historic center. Surrounding this setting is the Spring Fair, featuring stalls dedicated to local products, artisanal sweets, and the region's food and wine specialties. The day thus combines the spirit of a festival with tourism promotion and community gathering.

Entertainment, workshops, and music

The festival dedicates plenty of space to families and children, with entertainment, creative workshops, and shows taking place throughout the day. There is no shortage of live music, accompanying the public as they stroll through the flower-lined alleys and enjoy tastings. The atmosphere remains typical of Abruzzese village festivals: modest, welcoming, and visitor-friendly.

Montefino, a medieval village in Abruzzo

Montefino is a small village of Norman origin, perched along the Fino river valley and once known as Montesecco. Its medieval roots date back to around 1150, when it was mentioned as a castellum of the County of Penne; in 1454, it became a fief of the Acquaviva family, Dukes of Atri, who restored its walls and castle. Today, a 14th-century quadrangular tower remains of the manor, while the village preserves churches and scenic views that make it a destination within the network of Abruzzo villages and one of the 'Cities of Oil'. Spring in the Village is the ideal opportunity to discover this historical and scenic heritage in a festive setting.

The event, organized by the Associazione Culturale Oltre Noi – Al di là dei Confini APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Montefino, is not just a moment of celebration, but also a concrete opportunity to promote Montefino as a place capable of attracting visitors, fostering social interaction, and enhancing its historical, scenic, and gastronomic heritage.
