About Christmas in Bisenti

In the heart of Advent, the medieval historic center of Bisenti, a small village in the Val Fino area of Teramo province, transforms into a Christmas village filled with lights, scents, and festive cheer. The cobblestone streets and squares come alive with a craft market, children's workshops, Santa's House, animated readings at the Montonico Museum, and traditional Abruzzese culinary specialties: hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, and homemade sweets. A day to enjoy with the family in one of the most charming villages in the Teramo hinterland.

Christmas in the village of Bisenti

The Bisenti Christmas Market is the must-attend event that, during the Advent season, brings the characteristic historic center of Bisenti to life. This small village of just under two thousand inhabitants is nestled in the upper Val Fino valley, in the province of Teramo, at the northeastern foothills of the Gran Sasso. For one day, the medieval streets and squares of the town light up and fill with activities, workshops, music, and flavors, offering residents and visitors a total immersion in the magic of the holidays.

A Christmas village in the historic center

The route winds through the most beautiful corners of the village, where the colorful atmosphere typical of an ancient medieval town is still preserved, dominated by the surviving tower of the old walls and the Mother Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Along the itinerary, you will find the craft market, set up in Piazza Costantini by the Amores Cultural Association, and numerous themed areas designed for both adults and children.

  • Santa's House, the emotional heart of the route for the little ones
  • Montonico Museum with face-painting and Christmas-themed animated readings
  • Demonstration workshops, educational lessons, and exhibitions of handmade artifacts and products
  • Roaming entertainment, bingo in the square, and games for children along the main avenue

The flavors of Abruzzese tradition

Great emphasis is placed on typical festive gastronomy: artisanal hot chocolate, cookies, small pizzas and focaccias, roasted chestnuts, and the essential mulled wine accompany your stroll through the stalls, in a climate of conviviality that is the true hallmark of this village event.

Bisenti, village of the Montonico

Bisenti is best known for Montonico, the sparkling white wine that is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of October with the popular grape and wine re-enactment. The Christmas Market represents the other great community moment of the year, when the entire village in the Teramo hinterland gathers around its traditions to welcome Christmas in the spirit of hospitality and local craftsmanship. An opportunity to discover, in the setting of the most authentic Abruzzo, a small town rich in history, art, and flavors.

Christmas in Bisenti โ€” edition 2026

Dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers: it is expected to take place in December, during the Advent period, as per tradition.

The 2026 edition of the Bisenti Christmas Market has not yet been officially confirmed. At the moment, neither the dates nor the final program have been published. In continuity with past editions, the event is expected to enliven the historic center of the Municipality of Bisenti, in Val Fino (province of Teramo), during the month of December, featuring a craft market, children's workshops, Santa's House, and Christmas culinary specialties.
