The Sports Gala is one of the most anticipated summer events in Vico del Gargano, in the heart of the Foggia province. Every year, the event honors the athletes, sports clubs, managers, and coaches who stood out during the last competitive season, turning an awards ceremony into a true community celebration. It is more than just an institutional recognition: it is a moment when the territory celebrates its champions, from young football academy players to athletes who have achieved national and international milestones.
From Vico del Gargano to the entire Gargano: a traveling event
The Gala was born in Vico del Gargano eighteen years ago and has since become a traveling event, moving between different towns on the promontory: from Cagnano Varano to Peschici, from Rodi Garganico to Carpino, passing through Vieste, Monte Sant'Angelo, San Menaio, and Ischitella. This nomadic nature has made the event a shared heritage for the entire Gargano, a thread that unites communities around the values of sport. In 2026, the Gala returns to where it all began, in Vico del Gargano, for its eighteenth edition.
Awards, recognition, and the social value of sport
During the evening, athletes and sports organizations from the Capitanata region are awarded not only for their results but also for their commitment, growth, and the social value they bring to the area. Alongside the champions, managers, coaches, and clubs that run sports projects involving children and teenagers take the stage. The event is supported by a network of institutional partners, including the Puglia Region, the Province of Foggia, the Gargano National Park, the CONI Puglia Regional Committee, and LND Puglia.
Vico del Gargano, the setting for the event
The Gala is hosted in Piazza San Domenico, in the historic center of Vico del Gargano, one of the most picturesque villages on the Gargano promontory, also known as the "town of love" for its devotion to Saint Valentine. The evening setting of the square, nestled between medieval alleys and views of the Foresta Umbra, adds charm to an evening that combines sports, entertainment, and local identity. The event is promoted by the Pro Loco and the Municipal Administration of Vico del Gargano.
Sports Gala — edition 2026
The eighteenth edition of the Sports Gala marks the return of the event to Vico del Gargano, the city where it was born eighteen years ago. The evening of July 10, 2026, in Piazza San Domenico celebrates the athletes of the Capitanata and Gargano regions who stood out in the last sports year, in the presence of regional sports leaders. An edition embellished by the presence of big names from football and Olympic sports, who will present awards to athletes, clubs, and entrepreneurs linked to the territory.

The evening is promoted by the Pro Loco and the Municipal Administration of Vico del Gargano, led by Mayor Raffaele Sciscio, with the patronage of the Puglia Region, the Province of Foggia, the Gargano National Park, CONI Puglia, and LND Puglia.
